I talked a little bit about this game with people involved in some testing and it basically plays fully like a shooter. If that is what you are looking for go with it but it lost any mmo aspects when Titan was dropped.

I'll be in school when its released but might get it during winter break sounds good thanks! However, lots of the fun with the Civ genre is with mods and its pretty addicting so will probably just focus on CU alpha which should be coming out around the same time.

I'll probably see if we can get arctix to comment on this as it is something pretty interesting.
