Official Im a noob Skald Thread

Postby Seventhorn » Thu Jun 26, 2003 1:10 am

Ok, been a couple of days since I acquired Liader off a trade. I have a bard on MLF but Skalds are nothing like bards. I want input and feedback on how I should play my skald in RvR/PvE. What are my duties as a Skald in RvR? I have a cleaver in my main hand and nothing in my left hand. I have a 2Handed Cleaver in my 2H spot.

What I have been doing.....using my 2Hander for opening strikes like Havoc but switching to my 1Hander after my opening. During battles I usually try to mezz the other mezzer and then go after anything wearing a robe or healing just to interupt and or kill them. Should I be doing something else? Im Axe specced so what are the best weapons to use?

I know I may not be doing the right things so help me help you?

Im not an entire noobler...I have experience in daoc pvp for a while now I adapt really easily to new chars and play them really well. But I research them extensively as well so thats why im posting here for the old school skalds who can give me those tips and hints.

Once again thanks in advance. :D

i'm not a skald but i did play a minstrel and the first thing i learned on her is to never immediatly rush into a fight from the start. both minstrels and skalds have very poor defense and low hitpoints and you will die very fast. for about the first 7 seconds of every confrontation i stood near our sorceress to stun anyone who ran at her and then joined in with the tanks.

the next thing would to always be using /assist in rvr. when i played my minstrel my main job in the group was to /assist our polearmsman to keep bladeturn poped for him and to stun his targets. our setup in this specific rvr group was 2 seperate melee teams at all times with a stunner for each. obviously as a skald you can't stun :P but the idea is the same - have as many tanks as possible on one target to overwhelm their healer's power and the target's defenses.

Well last night with us you did just fine while I was there. There is one thing that everyone does though that drive me crazy.

If you see a tank on me I know the first reaction to to come over and help. Do me a favor though if you see me with a tank on me and me still facing him. If you can give me about 5-10 sec so I can try a QC root on him. Not only will it get the tank off me but depending on his determination level it will neutralize him for a minute. However on the other hand if you see me running around with a tank chasing me come beat the piss out of him please:)

If you want some good skald advice I would suggest talking with Emjay. She is a very good skald. Not that any of our other skalds arent good its just I group with Emjay on a regular basis.
