Purchasing a new PDA. Any suggestions?

Postby Eirene » Wed Jun 18, 2003 12:46 pm

I loved my PalmIIIc (color version) but its on its last legs.

I think I want something with Windows OS. I don't want to spend that much on one...like maybe $300. Any suggestions?

I don't want a phone. :( I'm not a fan of handspring.

I kinda like the HP iPad because its cute, small, and can fit into my wallet :) Well my boss has an iPad and she bought this cute little organizer to go with it...so I'm thinking if I bought a new PDA, maybe I'll get an Organizer from DKNY or Guess?..

I'm thinking Palm, since they are user friendly. I like the compaqs because they seem to do a whole lot of stuff...I'll look at Dell.

because i know you love me, i'll show you how to get it real cheap.
(the dell one is very nice, my friend bought one for himself and his brother!).

this is for the 400mhz version:
click here to goto Dell Home Accessories

There's a huge 10% off Dell Axim link in the middle of the page.

They are offering free shipping.
Use this coupon code: AE17679F4531 to get $40 off!!

So $325 - 10% - $40 = $252 shipped for free.

This pda was an editor's choice at CNet

Here's PDA review I randomly found http://www.davespda.com/reviews/index.htm which gives it good reviews.

I think its pretty much the fastest PDA on the market, as I don't know of many others with a 400mhz processor.

*edit* oh yea, 10% off deal expires soon. the $40 off coupon expires tomorrow 11pm cst (9pm pacific).

I have a Palm III C myself that I never use ... put all my contact info into it then couldn't be bothered carrying it around. Cell phone, PDA ... blah blah blah.

Current PDA's are basically useless gadgetry imho unless you seriously need portable schedule/meeting/contact reminders - in which case your probably a salesman. I have 1-2 meetings a day max and I think I can remember that plus I have contact info in my cell.

Tablet laptops however are cool - that's my next toy. Scribble diagrams in meetings, type notes and OCR it into a doc or leave it as freehand text. Hook it up to a projector and forget whiteboards :-)

PC Tablets are the SHIZZZ!!!

I was researching those for this CEO that I'm doing some business consulting.

OMG PC Tablets have everything...you can run Power Point presentations on it/check email/ scribble notes while speaking in Australia and fax it to the main office in Dallas, etc etc... Totally awesome! He wants to get one but I have to run it by his wife, who's the CFO :)

Hey Seventhorn...Settle that account on Merlin :) Yushiro plays here as Nese/Linia.
