If I could draw like this I would most definitely always have a scetching pad in my hands. Talent like this truly amazes me.

This guy can be commissioned to do character portraits. He has alot of samples posted on his site.

Enjoy.

GU Comics/Style are fun to read and look at, however the artwork of Evan Smith, IMO by far surpasses it.

Fair enough and i totally agree with you but look at the price...

/GU offers sig icons like mine for $30 but the way i see it, Evan only offers $90 portraits, so it's all a matter of how much you're ready to invest...

actually, I believe I read on his MB that he does sig tags for as low as $10.00. (I may be wrong about the price for sig tags) GU charges $30.00 an hour with a one hour minimum. Their character portraits as stated on the GU site can be 3+ hours or $90.00+ depending on the detail.

At the end of the day Evan is charging about the same amount as GU per character (not sure what additional charges GU has for say horses, another char, etc) so, it's really just a matter of taste.

Your icon is fine and I enjoy the GU artwork, humor, etc, but I simply love Evan's use of colors and his ability to transform emotion into his work. Some of the facial expressions, hand gestures, etc. are simply amazing.

The downside is his wait list, from what I read can be as long as 6 months, not sure what/if GU's downtime/wait-time is.

But alas, as you can see, photoshop is my friend and helps to enhance SS's very nicely. Which is what I did for myself and many others. If I was to commission an artist, Evan would no doubt get my cashola. :P

sorry glen gotta agree with the middies :) that art work far surpasses the one you got in color emtion etc.

and to tell ya the truth the 90$ is no more expensive than going to art ppl in large malls etc and having a rl portrait

pretty tempting to get one :)
