there is a new dell deal every couple days, with the biggest discounts on dell LCDs coming every few weeks. Dwayne got his mom in on a $779 deal for the 2001fp which is awesome. a month ago, they had it even down to $749 with free shipping and no tax.
you just have to wait for a good one to come up. the 2001fp is an excellent excellent choice. i have the previous generation model, the 2000fp, which is amazing. the 2001fp has better contrast, brighter backlight, and more importantly, a smaller bezel
that said, the fact that i think the 2000fp is the best monitor ever says how cool the 2001fp must be. these are excellent gaming LCDs. they have the lowest response times among all LCDs.
i remember reading a few days ago on fatwallet that there was a contact at dell who was selling at the <$700 range to improve his own quota.

I just got mine in, and it is very very nice. Lots of features crammed into this unit.
With some patience you should be able to score it for 779$, or 799$ easy

2 weeks ago, they had it 25% off at $749.
last week they had it for 20% off with a stackable $25 coupon for $775.
I'm still using the 2000fp i bought 2 years ago for $1400 with a 25% off coupon bringing it down to a bargain $1050
i definitely don't regret it though.
