Midgard, Midgard - what happened to ye?

Last night, 768 mids online, and a /bg count in the homeland bg gives 68 mids. A /who Thidranki gives 78 mids.

I used to have pride in the types of players we had in Mid Merlin. We were battlehardened and well lead. We followed instructions. We were prepared. But we have since become soft, we became TOA loot whores. Midgard filled with players that were bandwagonning, and ready to jump to the next FOTM class when things got hard. And of the old-school, many became too big for our britches - people that used to help in homeland got caught up in their quest for R10L10 and decided they were above zerging. Prominent guilds and players that used to help, now they just radar around and feel leet while leeching off the info in the homeland bg and never giving any in return. If a /bg count shows 100, you can figure only 50 are rolling with the zerg, not a recipe for NF success. Mid didn't HAVE to have everyone along helping before to succeed, now we do. We have many alliances, rather than one or two. Meanwhile some of our leaders have waged war harder within the realm than against our enemies. But many of our real leaders just haven't been seen of late, or may be on for an hour here or there. Summer will do that to you, but we really miss you.

Mids don't remember how to zerg, how we need to stick together to beat a larger zerg. And so we get farmed, and then people slowly log. Undisciplined noobs are quick to chase, and to die. It's funny how you can pull players just like you can pull mobs. Of course, those same noobs don't realize they should be embarrassed for their stupidity.

We don't have enough archers, approximately half the numbers our counterparts can put out. And of those, we don't have the same range or damage.
All of our runies went darkness, a great emain spec but a terrible keep spec.
Cave shamans are dead, killed by heal fonts and maxed resists. But we need cave to rise again.
And mythic needs to give tanks in all realms a better role in new frontiers, but this hits midgard particularly hard.

I guess I believe there is a time and a place for everything. When your realm has been invaded for a week, and flames are everywhere, I personally think that the BG's need to empty, people get on their 50's again, we form a 200 man zerg and clear the frontier. But as I said, these new mids are either soft or too leet for that.

So I believe we will go through a purge and a large drop in population like we did after the left-axe/end-regen nerf. Midgard on all servers will be down and beaten. But I will remain, and every day I will fight! And, as it has happened several times before, Mid will rise again, and we will be the shining example to the other servers of how Midgard can be, and our enemies will again cry against our overpoweredness. It won't actually be overpoweredness at all, it will be that we flushed the worthless parasites off the realm and what remained was good and strong.

good point. some of the problems i see is lack of pure leaders in the bg's lately. and with towers now ideally i think we need to have 3 leaders and 3 zergs each covering the 3 zones divided by rivers in our homeland. most of the time we only have 1 zerg and while it is effective if we get hit somewhere else far away we dont have enough time to react. also we need less ppl bringing catapults they are useless becuz all they are for is ppl and 200dmg wont kill a person. we need more ppl out scouting becuz real info is better than realmwar map info. tanks need to be bringing as many rams, trebs as they can bring, some tanks have 400+str and need to max the use of it by bringing siege.

also the perfecters need to put down more heal wards, we usually end up with stacked power fonts and thats useless. i run out of hp long before i run out of power. tanks not doing seige need to be killing the guards, also u have to use taunt styles. a lot of the time i dont help kill guards with my runie becuz i do 1 cast and get agro easily cuz some noob thane is just casting dd or not even using styles. there is other things i cant think of atm, but atleast we will lose some of the bandwagoners through this downtime.

Another area that would speed things up is for guilds to have more people that can claim keeps and towers. We've had several instances of not being able to move on to the next re-take because no one is able or willing to claim. Our guild has set up 3 ranks that can claim with clear instructions for each rank about when they can claim a keep or tower.

ya, also a good point dont claim a tower unless u can keep it at lvl10 for a long time.

the towers cost hardly a damn thing to keep at lvl 10 so most any guild can claim and upgrade it to 10 even bot / alt guilds

Agreed. In fact, it's so cheap, it's too bad Mythic won't let guilds have a keep and a tower at the same time.

For myself and many others I spoke to NF is not a gaming option. As a pure tank we have nothing absolutly nothing to do in NF other thn fight for the one Ram on the door which I am sorry is fucking boring. I am ok running a ram but when you are reduced to just doing that in a game than I loose interest.

Midgard is the "melee realm" and we were melee heavy as a realm, so naturaly with NF many of us lost interest in the game. Some are leveling casters, many are quitting or playing BG until NF is fixed for us tanks/melee.

I am now playing BG, I just dont have the patience to level a 50 and farm $, equipment, ML's etc. If NF is not fixed for melee I am going the way of law and shelving the game until BWC begins the next one (though for me it has to be a PvP driven game). Many tanks/melee are doing the same in the realm including healers.

My experience in playing NF for almost a month is standing in the keep soaking damage, looking for a heal font I can park myself on, and hope healer throws am occasional heal on me.

Ironically the BG's are all casters/hunters/SB's, only melee are thanes (who are casters). No warriors, savages, zerks LOL. Any way good post Josh, I thought I would give you some insight though I am sure you already know this.

I think part of the problem is frustration. We're so used to being on the top of the world that we're having a tough time adjusting

Due in part to us being so outclassed atm and so far down and also due to the disorganization that we're going thru

Some people seem to be taking out their frustrations on leaders and others out there trying to help...and others are getting tired of the flaming and don't even want to go out there.

I am one of the few it seems that likes NF.. I've had a blast out there despite the hardships we're suffering but there's times I've wanted to just pack it in cause I can't stand to see what goes on in our BGs

I see steps being taken to change our status and I think it's a great start.
Now we just need the rest of us mids to learn how to respect / support each other and work together

The problem is everyone is to prissy. There are deeper issues then just mid in general. We all in some way or another notice the change and notice mid declining, but WE THE BWC ALLIANCE can change this, lead by example.(Im going to use Alliance very broadly) IMO if this alliance doesn't help in homeland then this alliance aint shit, helping in our frontier is number 1 always, its much easier to be offensive and roam and do all the other shit when we have all our keeps then when we have 4. The pressure is on mid now, thats all. Albs/hibs are pooring into our frontier like water into a glass. We need to change that by DOMINATING them like we can and did back in the day.

uhh reason i moved to mid was because there was 30 ppl in emain at most in prime time, the only ppl that rvred was TF. there was no fotm shit in mid, i only had friends there, i gave up my soon rr8 sorc (most overpowered class in the game) and rerolled to play with friends. when i was done lvling, xping artifacts, gaining ranks. mid/merlin was the worst place to be. stupid pos faggot zerging non factor ppl took over the server. ive been on merlin since day 1 and ive played all 3 realms

Tani we shut down that whole realm when we set up farming sessions in Hibernia as well as shattered every guild record across all servers.
