Am I just old? (Dr. Hyla could respond)
I'm a 30 year old male in decent shape. I don't work out much, but i do play some sports. Hockey in the winter and softball in the summer.
Tuesday night I played softball. Our team got killed. We were short a player and had only 3 in the outfield. Since I'm the left-fielder, I was pretty busy.
The problem is, after playing the past 2 weeks, I get SORE AS HELL on Thursday, not Wednesday. Late last night at 3am (Thursday morning), I woke up with a severe pinched nerve and my legs were achy. I knew I threw out my right arm, but not my left, where the pinched nerve is.
So I guess my question is, am I just getting old? Does this happen to other people (same age group)?
I'm not going to work out anymore than I already do, which is never. In hockey season, I'm never this sore. And thats my bread and butter.
Discuss.

I hate to disagree with Super too much, but i do hear that running (too much for excercise) can really mess up your joints that are used while running. Im not saying running is "bad" for you, but probably not the "best" for you.
Try walking, easier on the joints and could be just as good as running can be. Im also not saying DONT RUN AT ALL... just not as much as those freaks you see every morning/evening running thier same route everyday.

You should stetch man, every morning and before you play... stretch for like 30 minutes and dont cheat yourself.
I agree with swimming, it is a really good way to get exersise, it tones the muscles and stengthens your joints.
Also try doing some 12 oz curls, good to keep the yang up.
Oh and when your having sex with your lady, try being more physical instead of just laying there.

Understood on the running part, good shoes, and proper pavement, track is important, but if you do it right and keep it consistent, it helps.
Stretching as you get older is key, unless you are like me and wakeboard every damn day.
Last but not least, listen to Pytt/Rolo on his last sentence, get silly, get goofy, get crazy in bed with your wife.

Ok from a real athlete the simple fact is your out of shape, thats why your getting sore. As you keep playing your muscles will tone up, there will be less acid build up in your muscles and also less tearing as your muscles stregthen.
The reason your experiencing so much soreness is because your out of shape and you are pushing your body too hard instead of gradually conditioning yourself.
Recommendations:
1) swimming is fine if you have the time for bathing suits and changing and all the other bullshit
2) 20 minutes lifting 3X a week, make sure you alternate body parts/muscle groups (stregthen your muscles which in turn will stregthen your joints)
3) cardiovascular-(bike, treadmill, stairmaster, whatever) 15 minutes 3X a week.
4) Strech, strech, strech, strech
bottom line you wanna play sports than tone up your body to do so, otherwise your could end up with permanent injuries if you push too hard.

well, i was hoping the last comment would show my sarcasm, but i guess gundorf's rep is well deserved since it was taken so seriously.
