Well, Phishdog sold me his old card and I installed that today. It helps performance; but my comp is still fucked in frame by frame. Almost always a red square. It will have to do for now. Just wanted to update everyone. If i can get a new connection and add a little RAM I should be set.

Law RAM is so cheap its not even funny. some in the guild was selling 256 for 50 bucks, forget who it was, started with a B i think. Look into it

I added 512 MB to Shammu's machine yesterday and all the lag is gone. 768 and $60 later is certainly a good way to get rid of lag...

Werd i got a new Gforce4 cheap as balls and still lagged, although my resolution is crystal. So i'm updating from 256 to 512 this week...so I can kill more elves.

From what i known if you want great performance with out upgrading
use Windows 98se I used that and had no lag but didnt try with SI,
as Far as SI with 512-756 megs of Ram and a G4 at 1024x768
with Med Draw distance Clip plane and Char distance you should be smoking.


But then again i could be wrong

Saturday I got a new computer. amd 2100 with 512mb ram and 128mb geforce card. Everything seems to be running tons better but im still having so probs and maybe one of u guys may know the answer. I can be stuck to some one in a grp and running along then next thing i know im by myself and they are gone or some times they warp to a different location then where i was following at. I also have problems sometimes when fighting mobs in df. I can see the people fighting but i cant see the mobs. and if i try to heal someone in the grp and it says out of range. Sometimes the mobs will pop in front of me or sometimes the grp disapears and are fighting away from me. I used visual route and pinged the mythic gateway server and pings are between 40 - 50 with occasional spikes of 70ms. Any ideas?

Hall, how do I change the distance clip? I tweaked the res in the character choice screen but did not see many other options.

Hyla, are you playing behind a router?
I had that same problem and it was my linksys router.
What happens is that that some of the packets for the game don't get through to your pc in a timely manner, so the mobs don't update on your client-side, even though they're moving properly within the game.
Make sure all the ports for the game are open (if it has a firewall built-in)
And if that doesnt work, try some different firmware from your router manufacturer.
Law, I got an extra copy of SI for xmas. If you want it, I'd be happy to mail it to you.

HAll: from what i've read, win 98 does not reconize more that 512 Mb ram so 764Mb would be a waste.

Having lousy computer problems, First my new mobo didn't work, had to get it exchanged, took them a week to send me a new 1. Now it turns out the CPU also doesn't work

New cpu should come back sometime this week, got my old computer fixed but it keeps crashing to desktop when playing doac. grrrr.....
