Can you live without them? Do you feel naked without it?
I don’t know how the world functioned during the pre-cell phone era or how I lived, worked, or kept tract of my kid prior to owning one. I have had the same number for 8 years now and just cant remember life prior the cell phone.

Don't own a cell phone. We have a cheap one that you pay for time on as you need it in the glovebox of our car for emergencies, but thats it.
Never had a reason to own one. There are very few things in this world that can't realistically wait for a few hours until I check my messages at home.

Well I never had one till I met my wife and then we had two of them. Well that didnt last long as we gave one to her mother it was mine. To be honest they are really addicing. On those long drives you just want to pick it up and call all your friends because your bored this is not good for plans. I dont like those restrictions either if i want to call someone I just do. I dont look at the clock i just call.
That equalled a huge bill for me so i dont have one anymore my wife has it and she has more control than I do. I can live w/o one thogh.

love my cellphone. since me and adida are on the same network we call each other all we want for free. now if only I could stop losing/destroying my cellfone. I lost it in Vegas at a club a few weeks ago, and a few months ago I jumped in a pool with it in my pocket.

There are times when its handy, there are times when it's annoying.
There are times when you just want to shove it up your ex-gf's ass so hard that you might get an SMS through to her brain..." STOP CALLING ME BITCH! "

I got mine in 1998ish.
I've learned a lot about the wireless biz now though. Can't really live w/o one now. With some of the newer wireless handsets you can now play movies, listen to MP3s on them...like the LG8100, Samsung a953 (err dunno if thats correct I don't like Samsung much), LG9800 by Verizon(the God phone--Crackberry, MP3 player, Trio, Scanner etc all in 1)--- oh the LG9800 is my xmas gift to myself or Razr by Cingular. I don't follow new Motorola phones much since we only use old Motorola outdated Nokia-looklike bucket phones for testing.
I think the wireless industry has come a long way -- from low scale mom and pops wireless junket stores to 4 main multi-conglomerate corporations. Handsets are getting better and better. 5 years ago, you can take photos on your phone, 2 years ago, you can watch small digital clips, and now you can watch whole movies on your phone. Next, you can do everything except drive on wireless phone. And, wireless subscribers will continue to grow for the next decade.

I agree Cell phones and Cell service has increased greatly over the years.
I got my 1st phone and the same number I have in 1998 when I was in college and had a small child at school, with sitters etc. I didn’t want to be somewhere like a university campus without being able to be reached. I’ve pretty much took advantage of the upgrade credit the cell company provided and have updated the model on a yearly or so basis. I have negotiated upgrades my plan every time I heard AT&T, now Cingular, advertise better deals on than the plan I have. I now have a 2nd phone on the family plan, 1000s of minutes, (including rollover minutes that don't expire), free roaming, free long distance etc for a great price.
When my kid got older and started spending the summers flying around the country to visit his dad and/or relatives, grandparents etc, I added his phone to the plan. Now, being in high school, he mostly uses it to talk to girls, but when was younger and was changing planes and negotiating airports and looking for which ever relative to pick him up it was nice to be able to talk him through it all and know the minute he was safely in whomever was picking him up hands.

I hate talking on the phone soo.. yea I think cell phones are stupid..
I used to laugh at people in the grocery store or in a car yapping on a fucking phone. I guess what it boils down to is what you really use it for. In emergency or getting lost and getting last minute directions is cool. But comon now, when you bored or waiting for something like a theater movie the first reaction is to "play" with your phone. Nexttime your in a theater look at how many people in the theater are starring at their phone then actually talking to the person they brought with them.
