Gardening

Postby Eirene » Sun Apr 18, 2010 8:53 pm

I'm starting to learn how to garden and all that lovely stuff. Other than the ganja plant, what's the next best thing?

I actually bought some veggie plants and got my hands dirty. I'm such a girly girl. I got a sunburn too :( :(

Carrots are super easy as are any type of squash. Celery chives and and type of spice plants are also really easy to grow and maintain. Potatoes and other tubers are aslo a cakewalk.

Tomatoes are tough, at least i've always had trouble with them. They take a lot of time to get the plant growing right before they fruit and are really succeptable to insects. Some of the larger peppers grow similar to tomatoes but are much more forgiving all around.

Really the best advice i can give you is pull your weeds all the time to give your veggies room to grow or be lazy like my and lay landscaping fiber over your garden so you don't have to weed at all hehe.

don't grow anything you wouldn't regularly buy at the grocery store, unless you got people that would want it. It's nice to grow some herbs like parsley, basil, rosemary etc. if you use them often in cooking. Some variations of lettuce might be a good idea if you make a lot of salads. With pickel cucumbers you can make your own pickles. It's kinda of a pain in the ass to make your own tomato sauce, and growing them can be challenging like others have said. Ultimately just grow stuff you plan on using frequently.

There's only so much mint you can realistically use.

Let me start off by saying I give up. I could post a dozen threads that require any amount of testosterone ranging from upcoming gaming titles, mixed martial arts or extreme sports and none of them would get you ladies to turn out like Kims gardening inquiry. That being said go with Birthworts because I like the name.

First off, gardens are cool but you guys FAIL miserably when it comes to detecting sarcasm as it's nice to see activity of any kind here. Second, at least I'll have a site to come to when I need interior design assistance or the latest news on Broadway musicals. Third, to stay on topic Corpse flower is another plant that has a cool name and also the distinction of being voted the worlds ugliest.

Whatever. I'll give you a pass on this one assuming you suffer from years of auto using "blah blah blah" as a response on VNBoards or Xbox Live when you can't think of a reply. Obviously I am partially joking about planting flowers with funny names but we joke a lot on this board. I don't really know many useful gardening tips not readily available. Anyways good luck and let me save you the trouble of your next response.

Blah blah blah blah blah.
