Interesting...............

Postby Tingtong » Thu May 26, 2005 6:49 am

Mythic has done.... nothing. Their development teams are split in 3. Most of the programmers are now working on Imperator. Half of the art team is creating new concepts and rebuilding old concepts for Warhammer Online. Dark Age of Camelot is left with low level programmers (such as myself) to correct text in quests (capitalized a name, typos, etc.).

The team leads have also met with Sanya and reports have been dealt with but we all know where those lead to (no where). There are a few guys still monitoring the realm situation but with Mythic's long "testing periods" (their testing technique is very very idiotic and laughable), don't plan much to happen.

Darkness Rising will probably be one of the last BIG things happening to DAoC. Expect DAoC to be like Diablo 2 come this winter of 2005. Meaning DAoC will still be "supported" by Mythic (just like Diablo 2 is still "supported" by Blizzard) but it's just on the very very very end of the stick. The head team at Mythic rarely even speaks about DAoC nowadays. They maybe meet once a week about it and most of the meeting is spent talking about business ($$/subscription fees, what can we do to get more customers, etc.).

Source?

It might be true, who knows. All I know is that since 6 months after DAoC was released, people have been predicting it's demise.

Eventually, due to the simple nature of things, they will be right, but I'm still having fun with the game.

It's funny, Mythic goes and changes a bunch of stuff, releases add-ons, etc, and everyone starts QQing and telling them to slow down and leave things alone.

Now, people are saying its not changing enough.

Where'd that come from?

It's obviously fake.

Programmers don't edit text for quests and stuff. That's all done by content devs via talk indexes. Mythic's programmers only do UI's and game system stuff.

So maybe that is why he would say this... because he is now fixing text instead of programming :P

Got me...

Wouldn't surprise me .... Mark Jacobs has always been about DAoC's "life cycle" and proclaiming it isn't meant to go forever. Like when he gave the big speach on Everquest 2 and how "2's" don't belong in MMO's. You need to make new ideas with original worlds to be succesful.

At the same time he pointed out how developers need to let MMO's go and make room for the new games.

I think they will figure out it is hard to tell players that they are no longer 100% supporting their game.

DAOC was the greatest game ever. Kudos to mythic.

Alas, it's day is done. Bring on Imperator. Given DAOC's former greatness, I'll buy it simply because it's from Mythic. We all like to hate on Mythic, but they made a game that I spent literally 6000+ hours playing. /salute Mythic

Mythic > Blizzard. Muhahaha

Mythic never had any problems with making a good game, it was making a good "Company" that did it in for them.

Broken Promises, Lies, and lack of recpect towards thier customers left a very sour taste in my mouth. It's pretty sad when the "President" of Mythic is labeled as a Liar and their PR Represenative Labeled as an idiot. Didn't u know Sanya had her own board that flammed other MMo's before her days at Mythic?

It's the American Way to root for the Underdog Company, In Mythic's Case when that dog goes blind, shits on your carpet and insecently humps your couch it's time give it the 1 finger salute and kick it to the curb.

It's nice to see Blizzard follow into their footsteps it seems. 6Months and still no structured PvP? Keep paying your 15bucks a month suckers. Btw Eq2 Raids are far more entertaining then WoW Raids... :P

I know I know... I rant a lot... But hey isn't that why i'm here? hehe....

/end rant

A swedish movie named "Kõpps", an absolutely hilarious movie that rivals American Pie :bigups:
"The temperature inside this apple pie is over 1000 degrees. If I squeeze it, a jet of molten bramley apple will squirt out. Could go your way; could go mine. Either way, one of us is going down! - Alan Partridge"
