Guild Wars 2 Launch Date
I received a email saying the game is launching August 28th.

I can't wait....still in the air as my bow user, but I am leaning towards Bow warrior. After the revamp longbow seems to be more competative with rifle for warriors. So unless Thief shortbow gets some love It will be bow/hammer war witha Axe/dagger/staff NEcro as my alt=)

Final Beta this weekend! Hope some heads will be playing. I'm on the same server with Jahman or Jahmans or the like as my tag. Gotta try out the bow classes again to lock down my main!

We're still on Fort Aspenwood under the Resonance guild tag. I think I'm going to be making a Sylvari Ranger Friday afternoon right at the start up. I think they have some of the best concept art available, but I don't know that I like how it got translated into the game. Gonna have to check it out.

Longbow warriors are still meh...I'm leaning towards ranger as my main now. Surprisingly I found greatsword guardians to be a ton of fun also.

Sylvari have the most op racial ever for rangers in that entangling root shit. 45 second cooldown root that has to be killed before it goes away and it lines up well with barrage; I was killing groups of 5-8 mobs that were 2-3 levels higher than me with it no prob. It's the exact same skill as the ranger class elite, except it has 1/3 the cooldown.
I still find myself torn between ranger and warrior though (more so now than before) because I don't know that I want to deal with pets in pvp. In pve the ranger wins hands down from what I've played (the only ranged weapon I like on the warrior is the rifle, and you can't AoE with it unless you can get piercing shots or something, like you can with the ranger's longbow). I think I'll start with the ranger to see how well I can do in WvW in group scenarios with the longbow and probably sword + horn (maybe torch, didn't try it out at all - would have to see how good it is), but I have a feeling I might end up switching to a condition based warrior build (sword + horn, rifle).
The reality is warrior range will serve just fine in open world skirmishes, and in keep sieges, it's going to be all about trebuchets and arrow carts anywyays, so the range weapon is meaningless (I was being hit for like 6-8k by treb shots, and arrow carts used to hit for ~500/arrow with like a 6 second reload time or something).
I'm going to have to look at the utility skills and see which ones are best for group play, that might ultimately decide it.

I'm torn between Warrior and Engineer. My engy was gone per the BWE3 wipe so i tried out Mezmer necro war. Got the warrior up and I didnt mind WvW so much it was pretty good smacking folk with Great hammer and rooting kids with Longbow.
in Spvp it was touch and go. Will probably roll Engy first, I love the sheer depth on them.

Yea as far as the warrior longbow goes the change to the #3 skill make it much more viable, especially for AE. But from what I played it is really sub par single target to the rifle.
Ranger longbow is just much more flexible to me and you can't beat 2k white hits from 1500 range with the #1 skill.
The Pet AI seems to be considerably better also since the 1st Beta test.
Can't wait for release had some insane 3way WvW this weekend!

See, I think the Warrior's rifle is almost as good as the Ranger's longbow and it doesn't suffer loss of damage from being within 1000 feet. The F1 skill hits as hard/harder than rapid fire, and the rifle barrage hits almost as hard as rapid fire also. Plus the warrior gets a snare, it's main damage attack stacks a bleed, and you still get a knockback. I do like barrage for backloading some damage, and I like the overall aesthetics of the Ranger better than the Warrior, but I just don't really know about the whole pet scenario in PvP. In PvE I kept it up without problems 99% of the time, in PvP though, with the crazy ass amounts of AoE going out, I think it's going to end up being a liability unless they make them take less AoE damage like the WoW pets do (which I doubt is going to happen any time soon)
