I own it, and play it once in a while.
Very Intense.
Make sure you have a bad ass graphics card before you buy it.

Its pretty cool. You can pretty do anything in the game. You can fly planes, drive tanks, get behind a 60cal. Its really easy to just jump right into anything and blast away. There are alot of options as far as your role in battle. Teamwork is a must. Battles can get pretty intense and there is always action.
It takes a second to get use too (like most FPSs) but once you get the had of it, its easy. The thing I like is that it is based less on twich type shooting. You gain accuracy when you crouch or shoot in bursts.
Things that sux are preformance. With 256 ram it takes about 4 minutes to load a map. But with 512 it takes a fraction of that. I don't have a problem when I'm in game, but I do have the graphics turned down slightly.
I guess its also buggy if yah got certain hardware specs.
And the last I heard there were only a few video cards being supported.
I didn't play any single player missions.

Ya'll
I was playing Bf 1942 before i started smoking the pipe called DAOC.
I just want to let some peeps know, that there was a lot of game lag due to the soundcards.....NOT the video cards.
If your having some lag try this....
Go to the folder you installed BF 1942. Open folder called settings. In the settings folder, there is a file called "VideoDefault.con". Open this file with wordpad. The last line of the file reads:
renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0
Change this line so it reads:
renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1
This solved most if not all the lag on my machine. My machine at the time was a 600mhz AMD. Have a new PC now, and havnt tried it yet.
If you have anyother questions let me know. I saved a lot of info I searched for when i was playing BF1942.
And one more thing, the game is AWESOME! With no lag, the game is a really a boost to the normal FPS's. Good teamplay is a must.
Good Luck and enjoy,
Keabit Guinneess

I run a first person shooter clan called Left For Dead and we play this game.
We have a T1 server for it as well. I guess they have been playing some of the latest mods and such.
If any of you are interested in playing it there I will let them know you will be coming and get the IP information and such for you.

I don't have much lag, but then again my computer is so elite that it's powered by a furnace I shovel ethiopian babies into... =\

If you have the machine to play this game I SAY GET IT ASAP! Its very addictive if you get into roleplaying within it. If you ever join or form a GOOD group of people with strat, you will enjoy it even more as you can reinact battles and such. You can make your own modules also. There are several really nifty ones out there at the moment but still not a lot. Thats about the only thing this game is really lacking is a lot of addons and an increase to the maximum player cap per server.

Been playing alot more often now.
I personally like being an engineer and blasting myself into the sky and then parachuting into enemy lines. LAF
