Lets talk about class balance in the guild

Celest vented some frustration today at inviting another runie alt into the guild. We've got more casters than The Guardians now =P
OK, this is a tough one. What do we do if nobody in the guild is playing support? How much success will we have?
Healers who earned RP's last week in BWC:
Celestrial, Gundorf, Himmlischer, Aenslands, Oloder are the only ones to break 15k. Several others under 10k, but thats like 1 days worth of RVR.
We need people willing to play healers. A good RVR group has 2 healers in it. We have nowhere near that. It absolutely sucks to leave the PK with 1 or no healers in some of our groups. We also need people to play tanks. Casters are not going to knock down keep doors. We need shamans. We don't need any more runies.
Whats the solution? Or am I making a big deal out of nothing?

you need good healers who actually like playing healers
come to lance, where there's always a good healer/druid! or ... someone playing 2 good healer/druids at the same time!
j/k. Cele is all you need. D sucks, but I understand you gotta let him group with you, or else he won't be able to flame as much on vn. But you can't tell people to play support.. it takes a special masochist to actually like it

that's why tav/khaj/lubu/ude never play support. they are weak sauce!
even if you do convince them to play support, they'll usually hate it. both psycho and farfar obviously hated their druid on lance. I suppose you guys could recruit more healers, but there's always the problem of BWC growing too large

I guess my point is who is going to heal the casters in rvr.
70% of the guild is now casters.
20% of the guild are tanks (including skalds).
10% of the guild is now healers/shamans.
If I wanted to recruit good healers, they would be in the guild. Majority of the healers are either a) in guilds already and I can't seem to recruit them; b) joined the Mid Merlin FOTM caster bus; c) or not enough seer classes period.
In order to be more effective, I think we do need more healers in rvr just because you can't compete with just one healer or shaman against the FOTM Hib RvR groups (2 bards, 2 Druids). Come on, lets use some common sense here.

I have always been willing to play what ever class is needed. If I'm needed to play my healer, sm or shaman then jus say so. I have been having fun playing the sb lately but will play any of them. Last night we had a healer in my grp so I kept playing the sb.
We had a tons of people in modern last night. I dont think it will be too bad when those guys hit 50.
It seems like we always have a problem with not having skalds...

My healer should be 50 by Monday, barring ML's or RL duites. I rolled a healer due to our shortage. Recruit if needed, but please don't tell me I wasted my time.
I'll play either char. But don't limit me because im inexperieced as a healer. All classes take time to learn. Plus, I got the best healer on merlin to learn from.

May also want to consider recruiting a bit on this one. FWIH some Myth are interested in joining - let's steal their healers if we can?
I intend playing Rat mainly in RVR once I complete my ML's up but will be playing SM occasionally as well.

i played the savage as long as i could, but in all honesty, with such limited support/heals, im dead BEFORE the casters because im the one that runs in first. we zerg so much lately that it also seems the only things that get "real" groups, not g3 bullshit groups, are casters shamans and healers. several times ive been expected to play in a group without a healer, and anytime someone suggests it i log and do something else. hard enough to play a tank when half the other guys dont assist and even worse with bad/no healers.
oh yea, and its always lovely to be in the uber tank/ramming group then find out we are sitting in a keep while the other group has 4 casters 2 healers and a cave shaman.

whining about lack of healers does no good, in all honesty..
support classes are always appreciated, never envied, often taken for granted. like i said before... it takes a special type of masochist to not only play one, but to play one EFFECTIVELY.
just having a healer, and not bothering to trick them out, or learning to be AWESOME at CC and peeling, is only a band-aid. it'll fall off eventually. maybe by the time the wound heals, or maybe you just have to find a new band-aid. you need to find people genuinely interested in that aspect of the game... and those people are rare

Everyone should be /assisting Sirion. Keep yelling at these guys until they solve this. Not /assist is amature hour and very, very basic play.
On another note Cherol of TF sent me this out of the blue -
Hey Law, this is Cherol from The Fellowship, if you need a 50 healer mine is 50 and spec'd 44 aug 30 mend, I really want some good rps so i will gladly join you.
I told him to contact Kim or D ~

New frontiers keeps with the hookpoints for seige should be better for tanks.
And I suggest we lift the recruiting ban for healers. Also this influx of Midnight Fury healers has been good.

stimpack and chardoa from myth have been considering (at least) applying as well. im not sure how solid chardoa is on the issue but from what ive heard stimpack has been persuing it pretty well with the officers.
