This came from a person I know, I cannot disclose my source to you

"I work for a Trademark company and as of today World of Warcraft is doing a search for the mark WOW. That means that the final stages of production and so on are in the process."

Now that open beta is announced we're probably just over a month away from release. The Nov 16 date is looking good.

Looks like their going to release one more patch with the final talents (and hopefully fix the bugs this last patch introduced), test that for a couple weeks then patch some remaining major bug fixes + one last balance adjustment as they go to open beta.

The pressure to release during the christmas shopping season was too much. Will we even see battlefields before release? Who knows.

The game is not complete, but don't get me wrong, even in it's current state it is the best MMORPG out there, by far.

Blizzard seems capable of releaseing at least one major patch a month, sometimes two, as well as minor ones in between.

There really is enough content that all but the Beta Power-gamers and other uber-do nothing but play-gamers will be occupied for long enough for Blizzard to get out a big patch.

Would be nice if they held off another month or two, but as is this will still probably be the best/smoothest launch any MMORPG's had to date.

Remeber blizzard has experience preparing for huge launches, while Diablo 2 wasn't a true MMORPG it was a networked game, and it's opening weekend was the only game in history to rival a blockbuster movie in sales.

I totally agree. Once they get in the talents for Pallys and Hunters, and fix a few longstanding bugs (for god's sake I pray they fix dismounting) I think release will be okay. Mind you, the game is NOT complete, but it's still miles ahead of where games like L2, DAoC, SB and SWG (from what I've heard of the last two) were at the same point. I think that by the time people start to reach the end game content Blizzard will already be releasing more raid/endgame content and character polish, and hopefully hero classes soon to follow.

With the recent Dev post (you can find the link to the Q&A post on the front page of www.worldofwarcraft.com ) it really seems like open beta and launch will actually make the November deadline, or at least be out before X-Mas. Most of the responses about issues were going to be resolved after launch. I'm not sure if it's Blizzard that's forcing the game, or Vivindi, but after a few years of working on the game I'm sure they both want to start bringing in some money from it.
