About making an alliance on WoW

You know we can make an alliance on WoW using a named chat channel. The chat channel interface is very powerful. You can make a password and set moderators. Mods have the power to kick/ban people at will. I think we should create an alliance channel ("BWCAlliance") set a password, and invite select guilds to join. I would say atleast Evil Dead and Redux to start. Good idea or bad idea?

I was thinking we probably don't want to hand out the password to everyone. Just the alliance chat moderators. Appoint one for each guild in the alliance and they are responsible for inviting everyone from their guild into the chat. If everyone had the password it would be too easy for them to allow friends outside the alliance to join.

Bad news....Theres two problems:
1. You will not automatically rejoin a chat channel if it has a password.
2. A channel goes away if noone online is in it.
Therefore we can not have a persistent password protected chat channel. Which sucks. It would have to be an open unprotected channel. What now?

/chatwho alone shows you what channels you are in
/chatwho # tells you who is in that channel
