I have rolled a hunter and have played him for about a week now. He is at lvl23. I am wondering what his spec should be at 60. Oh Mourningblade I hear that you play one hell of a hunter so I would truely like your input on this. Thank you all.

the spec ive stuck with the longest (i've changed about 4 times since i hit 60) is:

Beast Mastery Talents (31 points)

Improved Aspect of the Hawk - 5/5 points
Increases the Ranged Attack Power bonus of your Aspect of the Hawk by 20%.

Endurance Training - 4/5 points
Increases the Health of your pets by 8%.

Improved Aspect of the Monkey - 3/3 points
Increases the Dodge bonus of your Aspect of the Monkey by 3%.

Bestial Swiftness - 1/1 point
Increases the outdoor movement speed of your pets by 30%.

Unleashed Fury - 5/5 points
Increases the damage done by your pets by 10%.

Ferocity - 5/5 points
Increases the critical strike chance of your pets by 15%.

Improved Mend Pet - 2/2 points
Increases the amount healed by your Mend Pet spell by 10%.

Frenzy - 5/5 points
Gives your pet a 100% chance to gain a 30% attack speed increase for 8 seconds after dealing a critical strike.

Spirit Bond - 1/1 point
Every time your pet strikes an enemy, you gain 20 health.

Marksmanship Talents (20 points)

Improved Concussive Shot - 5/5 points
Gives your Concussive Shot a 20% chance to stun the target for 3 seconds.

Efficiency - 2/5 points
Reduces the Mana cost of your Shots and Stings by 4%.

Lethal Shots - 5/5 points
Increases your critical strike chance with ranged weapons by 5%.

Barrage - 2/2 points
Increases the damage done by your Multi-Shot and Volley spells by 10%.

Aimed Shot - 1/1 point
An aimed shot that increases ranged damage by 70.

Mortal Shots - 5/5 points
Increases your ranged weapon critical strike damage bonus by 50%.

Survival Talents (0 points)
None

The spirit bond is situational, but you'll do pretty well in duels, grinding, and against rogues.
If I were you I would spec to get spirit bond as soon as poss, then work on Marks.

Once battlegrounds comes out, I'm prob gonna respec to:
28 beast, 23 marks.

This will give me 3 points in frenzy (60% chance for pet to frenzy on crit) as well as +4 yards range and scattershot (the only shot we have inside the dreaded "dead zone".

Get yourself a fast attack speed pet like takk the leaper, swamp jaguar, and king bang when you hit mid 40's.

As soon as you can afford to, train in all weapons possible, start off using 2 handed for the better stats but feel free to switch if you come accross a better stat weapon.

Also, check out the hunter forum on VN and WoW forums. Alot of helpful info there (once you get past all the bitching and moaning)

Thats about all I can tell you about speccing at this point.

Hunters can be the best toon ever or your worst friggin nightmare.

It helps that im a sadist at heart tho

For grinding, I recomment this progression:

In that order for leveling. That also assumes that you dont consider pvp to be as important while leveling. That will give you the most possible DPS at the soonest possible time. The 3rd tier of mark doesnt really matter much while leveling, as I didnt use any of those (aside from arcane shot sometimes).
