Reaver discussions

I saw that 3-4 people seem intersted in playing a reaver. We got some choices to make and was wondering what other people think.

SPECS

spec 50 Flexible, 42 Shield, 36 Soulrending, 16 Parry (my choice for now)

This one is good cause of 9sec stun so you can leviathan more, but its better to autotrain to get 41 soulrending for a better leech spell. ( I hate autotraining)

50 Flexible, 45 Soulrending, 25 Shield, 25 Parry

You lose the 9 sec stun but get better spells, you lose blocking power but gain parries.

RACE

Inconnu are cute, but 10 in int is a waste
Saraceen have 80 dex, very defensive, great shield users
Britons are just normal but they have 1 HUGE avantage, they look like clerics when using a crushing weapon, even with flexible, for a short time they look like a cleric.

I'm going briton for the reason you stated, i'm not a big fan of shields since I never saw it be overly useful when fighting big numbers so figured the extra soulrending would help more.

Get a necro friend to PL you to 48 so you can autotrain your flex.

You can hit 50 Flex, 41 Soul, 42 Shield.

This server will be pretty quick to level on, so might even be worth PLing a necro first to do this if you have the time.

I wouldn't drop 42 shield for extra spell utility because Levi is damned awesome. Plus you can stun off healers/casters with it.

I been reading more stuff on boards about mercs and reaver, and I am not too sure which to play.

Merc is awesome, there is no denying it, slash, crush, they all good. Plus now I could do a ogre version.

Reaver has magic, looks cool, and I never played it

Hard decision.

Honestly I would go Merc they own hard. I havent heard the same thing about reavers. Mostly they solo alot. They have slam but if your looking for damage and kill spam go merc.

I am currently more looking at merc, with det 5, it will be unstopable.

Probably hafl ogre, will put points into qui, dex and maybe con. I am afraid to put points into str and later find out that I am past max on str, any help on this is appreciated.

Crush merc all the way. If I dont like crush, then just go slash later, slash and thrust is auto trained. But I think I will like the crush line.

Now do I keep the same old name boubou, or something more crushzor.

So its pretty much decided, I will do a Saracen thrust merc.

50 dw 44 thrust, rest parry.

I will take up armorcrafting from the start I think, and will take materials from all the stuff we get levelling, there is a forge inside, so I should be good, if it goes well, let me know what you need once we start levelling.

I am testing it now, and learning how to level with the catacombs on merlin.

What is cap on Strength? How does it work? My troll savage had around 393. Would he now be the same, strength-wise, as one at 350 strength?

saracen thrust doesnt sound too good. In my experience in alb thrust was nvr a really popular line and didnt offer much. Slash or crush usually top picks. Slash for nice anytime ameythest slash and crush for anytime stun. Personally id go half ogre crush merc 50crush/dw rest parry.
