First rip at a 99% minstrel template

A minstrel template is tough, especially if not using MP gear and going for never-gonna-happen gear like demon blood ring. But here is a first shot that is pretty good all round without being too exotic.

Because I don't want to farm or do darkspire runs over and over to prove my manhood, I'm cheap. The two darkspire armor items I found on a consignment merchant for 500gp apiece. This is as inexpensive as getting 99% armor and getting it SC'd. The Darkspire sword is the Infil sword, but it only differs from the non-infil sword by +3 slash vs +4 slash, otherwise identical. A real bargain at 400g in housing. Buy it and laugh at the people doing darkspire over and over for the perfect sword. ;) The only item you need to farm here rather than buy in housing is the damn Darkspire Dex cloak. And there are 4 99% crafted SC'd items.

Assumptions:
Melee & Body resists are the most important
Resists slightly more important than maxed stats
Every +20 hits is like 1% resists across the board. (I wish this had capped +hits)
Don't need + instruments because 50 specced, but do need capped +stealth

I don't use the SC prog everyone else uses, I've got a Excel doc I used at work for this, so I'll have to emulate the familiar format.

*** Note you can sub PC crafted for the boots pretty easy.

your going to wtfpwned with 11% matter resist you need it drop spirit mines at 10 only sm's use it

and try and bring up energry

do you plan on running solo on him alot? or more grouping?



if grouping drop drop the + stealth for other things needed like resist




p.s. +11 inst helps with pets and how how lvl / well you can control em without em breaking charm

I'm far too lazy to actually write it up or check any of this, but my suggestions:

1) Swap out the choker of dispute w/ the Ancient Copper Necklace. It has 40% resists, and the choker only has 30%.

2) Check the CM in housing for RoG's w/ +stealth. I know on Merlin, I got RoG items with good util and +7-8 of a skill. Not sure if those came from ToA or not, but your belt in particular seems really low utility.

3) Get an SC calc, I think there is a link in another thread to download one. The nice thing about the calcs are that they show the items utility, and you can find low utility items to swap out.

The other REALLY nice thing about the SC calc is they show the actual SC gem names, and a complete material list to do all the SC.

I can'use an SC calc unless I can find one that runs on a *nix box. I do all this at work, at home I have far more important things to do. And at work our Windows machines are scanned for unauthorized software. :P So MSExcel will have to do it. And I like being able to have 5 templates side by side to compare.

I tried the ancient copper neclace, too many overlapping resists with resists already on my non-SC pieces. The chokers plus is it doesn't overcap me on anything wasting utility. Plus, I found the choker at a merchant for 200g. Now I don't have to do that damn quest 8 times like on zuse.

heh 99 temps are easy with DS =P

my armsman has this for stats and he doesnt use mp armor.

Thanks for the Info Josh. I found this template posted on the Vault for Classic and besides one piece its easy to get. I havent examined it too wel but it had some decent feedback. Its geared more towards thrust but should be tweakable. Can give you some ideas on other pieces to use.

Most, the author of that was posting his own stats. The stats on the suit you posted are:
74 Str

Hits 156


Throw the Ogre's might belt out, never gonna happen on this server. :(

Also, if you go with that and you are specced 50 instruments (like you should be), I don't know I see the value of +Instruments unless you want to try to charm red pets for farming. Better to take those 11 points and put them into +hits imo

ya Im gong to take most of the + Instruments out on it, but some of those items are usefull in templaets as they have good imbue.
