Ok, so im a koby RM, pure dark spec and i just hit 20. Ive had such conflicting information that i need to get some clarification on a large scale here. Imihar and a few others told me to go pure dark when i started...and ive followed their advice. However, the recent thread concerning RMs didnt give me a lot of faith in my darkness spec. I have to respec now or stick with darkness til 40. Id appreciate any insight into whether i should change my spec or not. So far in open field i own in RvR, but in keep defense i lack the range that the bolters have and since this is my main, im building him for high lvl rvr...So that in mind, any suggestions?

I have a darkness runemaster - 47 dark, 26 supp.

Whether this is a good spec depends on how you like to play.

It is a fantastic open field spec. I nuke harder and faster than any class in the game (I think). My 3 second nukes do about 630 damage before resists without crits. With crits it is not unusual to see real world nukage of 500-700 per cast. With a good dex you can get casting time under 3 seconds. Thats good firepower.

My one complaint is it's a one dimensional class as dark. You pretty much just nuke nuke nuke. I say that compared to my shaman where I'm so busy doing a little bit of everthing.

BUT......
It is a crappy keep battle (offense or defense) spec. (or maybe I just suck). Because it usually takes 2-4 nukes to drop someone, it's hard to get uninterupted line of sight for that many nukes. Or you expose your self so much that you are likely to get sniped or nuked back.

For keep battles I think Runecarving would be much better. I would consider respeccing to Runecarving, but bolts are so broken right now...

I cannot comment on Suppression. I haven't played one.

I just get the impression that all three runemaster lines are good, it just depends on the style of game you want to play.

I agree, in rvr i was godly when in open field, but useless even in trying to take out archers from keep towers because of line of site and range issues. But like you said bolts are buggy...ive been hit by 40 and sometimes by 700 from the same caster with bolts....not sure i like that range of damage...... My original plan was 47 dark 26 supp for the nukes and bladeturn....not sure what supp can do really...any RC runies out there got anything super positive to say about runecarving?

It all depends how much you want to focus on group support. I'd suggest respec Supp to 40 at least since it will get you groups from 26-40 easier.

BWC Runies Imihar, Sylix, Ganedar and myself are full supp ... rest in RC for me. I can't comment on RC/Dark but am enjoying being strong group support with PBT, nearsight and AE snare DD.

Rc and Dark for PvP but RC is more effecient for MF/Keep but Dark very good for close pvp
Supp is only good for RvR in keep defense/offense or against MF pharm
