Anyone trying this title?

I am. Old foggie here that use to PnP AD&D back in the 80's and really want to see what Turbine has managed to put together. Yeah yeah they fucked up with AC2 but let's hope they got this title right.

I've read everything I could get my hands on and this title AND it really may not appeal to most of us hardcore mmo'ers but may be a nice part-time gaming fix. No PVP of course in the beginning. Nice thing is it is oriented to a small well oiled groups completing quests which may be fun.

For those that are going to give it shot post here and maybe we can get some groups together.

Other than that I'm actually considering giving NWN or Morrowind a shot in Feb for a gaming fix. WoW just doesn't cut it these days ... subscription ends Jan 29th for me.

p.s. Post your beta thoughts if you managed to get in!

I've been in the beta for quite sometime but I hardly play. My cousin and his wife from BWC (Candide/Venderic and Violet) have been playing it for a while using my account. A little closer to release I'll check the beta out a bit more.

Let me know what you guys think of beta ... especially Rish if your checking it out starting today :)

Unless I read horrible complaints on VN like AO's release I'll be picking it up.

well i played it for a bit. The interface is kind of stinky, one thing that bothers me is that it takes like 10 seconds to equip an item (every time you equip something...10 seconds...it's annoying) The general idea of the game is good it adds some action oriented combat , player controlled blocking and dodging, and some platforming elements, like this one quest I was on I climbed up a bunch of crates and found a hidden treasure chest...and you smash open crates and crap with your weapon and solve puzzles and riddles in the quests(one puzzle you had to rotate tiles like pipe dream). My very first impression was that it was crap...but as I play more its slightly more interesting...but it does feel a bit unpolished and everything just looks bland...maybe because I'm used to WoW...I'll play more and see how I feel later.

The graphics in EQ2 make WoW look bland.

No personal experience, but a couple of friends just tried it.

Said it was crap, and didn't elaborate. They only played for a few hours so it might just be learning to play it is frustrating.

Based on some very solid posts on the DDO forums I think this game is going to suck large.

It's similar to GW in that everything is instanced except the taverns. That means now world exploration :( Also I hear the graphics suck ... everything glides instead of actually walking, no emotes/facial expressions, supposedly quick to get max level and nothing to do, chat is borked, and lag is tremendous!

I picked up NWN Diamond the other day just to tide over the fix. It's actually fairly good.

The combat system is clunky as all hell.

Autoattack is buggy, and the mobs move around in what I assume was meant to be a "challenging" manner; i.e. they try to flank you. This sounds cool and innovative in theory, but what it amounts to is a really annoying click-fest when you're trying to acquire and swing at a target that's moving around like a retard that's just been given a sparkler on the Fourth of July.

Also, the camera system is sucktastic. Mobs will get right on top of you but your camera won't pan all the way to the floor so you won't be able to see them to target them. The mobs also have collision so if you get pinned in a corner while bugged like this, have fun releasing to your spawn point!

I had high hopes for this game. I was sorely disappointed.
