Let's talk about a Mouse - I need a new one

So I've had a Razer BoomSlang mouse for a couple years. I love the thing. 5 buttos, all of it programmable. Super precise, but it's dying on me. And they don't make em anymore so I can't buy another.

I need a new one, and so I need your advice.

But here is the number one feature I want. My razor has 2 side buttons where your thumb and pinky go that I could map to be a shift-1 and shift-2. This let me switch between two daoc quickbars without touching the kepboard. I loved that. And when I played shooters, I could remap those buttons to other keys or even a series of keys.

My kids MS optical mouse has side buttons, but I don't think I can make keystrokes to them. Or can I? Or how about logitech's, anyone know if those can?

Otherwise, I think there is some australia distributors that could still ship me a Razer, but that seems extreme.

Advice appreciated.

Can you map keystrokes Ugnot? Or just function keys like page up?

Can you map keys to the side buttons Barbos? I read the logitech webpage and couldn't tell.

Haha! Got another BoomSlang on Ebay! Wahoo.

I'm telling you, you say it's just a mouse but thats like saying all monitors are equal or cars...

I've been spoiled.

You can bind any button (you may modify all 8 of them, but you must have one for click and such)

Backspace, CTRL, Delete, Enter, Escape, F1-F12, Page Down, Page Up, and Shift.

just one of the keys, not a combination :/

I'm sorry, but that was the greatest display of 3rd grade drop out English that I've ever heard or it sounded cool...

I bought a Microsoft wireless optical mouse a while back, you can map keys to it pretty easy. I don't reccomend the wireless tho, needs 2 new AA batteries every 3 weeks or so, and the cursor movement seems a little jerky sometimes.
