lcd native resolutions

how can i tell if for example my new x1900xt ati card can display certain native resolutions for a lcd what should i look for?

in other words how can i tell if the video card im buying can support the native resolution or any resolution for a lcd.

the max resolution is 2560 x 1600 for the card.
does that mean i can use any lcd as long as its native or max resolution is under the max of the video card?

Yea... the video card can usually slice and dice the resolution anyway needed upto the max... The monitor sends a signal to the video card telling it what video resolutions it can support... This is what determines what options show up in Windows.

1600x1200 (regular) or 1920x1080 (widescreen) are probably the most common ones you will find in big lcd panels... Any more than that and you will have to really pay a premium..

Also remember the higher you run the resolution, the slower your games will run. 1600x1200 (or 1920x1080 widescreen which is slightly bigger) is becoming the new standard for gaming I think.
