Half of my group was almost done with one zone before the rest of them got in... overall I don't think I will like it much... The gameplay reminds me too much of L2 which got old after a month.

Bleh, I didn't really enjoy the first time I played the game, and I thought to myself...

"Hey, maybe you went into this game with negative thoughts and that skewed your opinion of the game, and maybe now that you've played it you can go back in unbiased and play it again."

so I responded to myself....

"Yes, precious lets us try it again...."

So after playing for another couple of hours I decided amongst myself that.... man that game is horrible.

It looks pretty good avatar wise, just like Lineage 2 did, but the skills and fights were terribly boring, you click a mob it attacks for you. Someone takes a bit of damage well your secondary monk skills (assuming you took a monk for a secondary skill set because heaven forbid you wanted to solo, only to find out that a mob 1 level lower than you can kick the shit out of you and a warrior elementalist at the same time while you are chain healing yourself) can keep them alive just long enough for them to curse the mob to hell.

But you get nifty special attacks that last for 12 seconds and hit mobs for 16 fire damage (assuming you went Ranger like I did with the mindset that being diverse actually meant doing something other than shooting mobs with a bow and using your secondary skill set to be a heal bot when idiots are too stupid to stop and heal themselves). Don't worry about the fact that a mob your level has about.... 600 hps while you have something like 150-180 (I can't remember which at this point because the selective amnesia is starting to kick in) and they hit you for 20+ damage on average anyways. Damn good thing I have a sprint ability that makes me dodge 33% more often and run like 33% faster for like 5 seconds every 12 seconds, because if I couldn't run my ass off then there would have been no way I was rezzing the groupmate that just died to a monster that was 3 levels lower than him dispite my healing him and thumping arrows into it's ass repeatedly.

Oh yea, downloading zones as you enter them is stupid. I haven't had to download like that since I quit playing Quake3: Arena. Like I said in a previous post, you better hope that your groupmates all have good connections, because jesus christ it took 3 out of 6 people in my group 15-20 minutes to download a zone. Good thing they made it in with enough time to leech the victory though, wouldn't have wanted them to miss out.

So yea, I don't think I will be buying this game unless I can decapitate some of the people that made it first.

By the way, this is just my opinion formulated from about... 4ish hours of time that I truely wish I had spent banging my head against the wall. If you don't agree, that's cool, feel free to post why you <3 this game because I honestly can't see one good thing about it other than the art on the character avatars which isn't as good as Lineage 2, but still pretty damn good.

Oh yea, /who is an unknown command. What the hell is that shit about?

This game isn't for me.

I'm not saying it is a bad game, though, just isn't what I'm looking for.

I DO think it will appeal to others, particularly diablo 2 fans.

I hope it does well, as they at least are doing some new stuff. The downloading of files doesn't bother me, because it is just the first time you enter. The general concept is rather cool, for streaming files to you.

To each their own.
Venderic, Candide or Mercutio in games.

If downloading the files isn't an issue, then having to zone everywhere you go certainly is annoying. Although if they changed anything in any zone you would have to download all of said changes for every single zone they change which will get totally boring.... much like the fighting.... and the movement..... and the landscapes.... and the enemies.......... erm /cough

I'm having alot of fun with it so far. At one point last night they had a problem with the hardware and DLs were going at 1kb per sec but other than that I've had no problems with downloads. I dont know how tanks work but my class (Elementalist/Mesmer) is pretty diverse. These are the skills I usually run with:

Single target DD
AE Rain Spell
PBAE
Buff that causes me to heal myself every time I cast a spell
Snare
Energy Drain which heals me
Buff which causes me and my allies nearby to Evade 50% more
Rez

PVP on this game is sweet and takes alot of strategy/skill. And I dont mean the crappy 4on4 random PVP in the Gladiators arena. I'm talking about the 8vs8 tournaments. You need to protect your monks and stay in a close group and assist off each other. My strategy to take someone down is Single Target DD until they get close then drop an AE rain when they are almost in melee range, then PBAE, Energy Drain, PBAE, Energy Drain until they are dead. This game is all about the PVP.

I've had fun with the missions too... but pugs are teh suq... get a couple friends to play with you and fill the rest of the group with henchmen. Its much better that way. Atleast the PVE in this game doesnt consist of sitting at a camp and killing mobs as they spawn..... Goodbye grind imo

Im not saying this is the best game ever made. But it is a new and fresh take on online RPGs and I am loving it. Ive gotten so sick of the same old MMOs. if you liked dungeonsiege you should like this game.... Its basically Dungeonseige on CRACK with organized pvp. I give this game 9 out of 10 mostly for its original ideas.

Missions = quests = grind. You do not level off of pvp do you? You do have to kill mobs over and over again do you not? The first mission I was on we were standing aroud some jackass npc in a healing field while undead mobs spawned aound us. We killed them all over and over, I mean sure, it was cool for the first 2 minutes, but by the time the 10th minute was passed my eyes were bleeding and I was foaming at the mouth. I would honestly rather grind and get exp at my own pace, than wait 20 seconds for mobs to spawn because we wiped a wave out in 10 seconds.

The PvE in this game is the most substandard crap I have ever witnessed, and I used to play DAoC. You run from one area to the next, and you kill the shit that's in the way. I thought I graduated from preset mobs when I bought a playstation... I guess I was wrong. I don't want to apologize, and I'm totally open for debate on the issue, but it's my strong opinion that this game ranks a 2 out of a possible 10, and the two is because I honestly think that the character models (although limited in customization) are very well done and I can use the keys to move so I don't have to get carple-tunnels PnCing it up all day and night if I don't want to.

I have not pvp'd in this game. I do not want to pvp in this game. I don't even want to move in this game. If it was all pictures then I would rate it a strong 8/10 right now. However, it's not pictures, and to me everyting after the first click is a steep slope downhill.

PS: I'm not flaming you or anyone that likes this game (that I, personally, find very crappy). If you enjoy it more power to you, rock on, and have fun. But the bottom line for me is, I have a dog, two cats, three toliets, and a huge fridge... if I want crap, I don't have to buy it. And I <3 you all.

To each his own I guess. For me I like the concept of PVP on even relatively even playing grounds... Some dude doesnt have the advantage over me because he has no life and hes ML10 RR10.

If some guy plays more than you do, he will always have the advantage over you. There is no way to avoid this, otherwise there is no reason to play at all. If your character can't be advanced or strengthened over time, then there is absolutly no reason to even try to put time into it. If you want a game that you can win based on skill alone, then FPS games are for you. Noone has any advantage in an FPS whatso ever other than skill in aim and knowing/controlling the map layout. That said I heard from someone else that the arena is fairly fun, so I may try it out afterall, but my expectations are lower than they were going to see the matrix revolutions, and I still came out disappointed... one can only hope right?

The problem with trying arena pvp is that pickup groups are crap.... So many groups are in the Arenas with TS and are gunna rox your unorganized band of slapped together toons.
