So how is it?
Been watching the boards here, along with the Conquest boards, as well as talking to friends in Conquest who have been running continuous raids.
From what I gather, once you hit 60, you have to run the same 3-4 raids dozens and dozens of times each to get the gear. Been reading that you might get 4-5 drops on a 40 person raid.
Apparently, you need keys for each person to even get into some of the raids?
While ToA in DAoC had its downsides, at least I only had to do each encounter once per character. The idea of getting to 60 only to have to run through the same raid 50-60 times REALLY doesn't sound that appealing.
Am I right on this, or is there something I'm missing?
Starting to get the MMORPG itch again, and will probably just go w/ DAoC.

That is pretty much it if you don't make and alt or PvP all the time yes.
I have a Paladin and have been trying to get Lightforge gear for him. I have been on 70+ runs easy now and I have 2 pieces of the set. A bracer and boots.
It's not bad enough my guild has too many Pally's so I have to roll against all of them, but it would be unfair being we have all been on the same amount of runs. Just the damn items aren't dropping. I have more Valor gear for Warrior on my toon then I do the intended gear.
It's rather sad that this is the case because the game simply kicks ass otherwise.

Thats about it. Although CQ is more of a raid guild. On Arch there are scheduled 5v5 etc. You could literally go on 100's of raids to gear up.
Although detractors decry (MMA) as a brutal, bloody form of human cockfighting, aficionados know it is a brutal, bloody, totally fucking awesome form of human cockfighting. -The Onion

Reading the patch notes from Blizzard, they are planning to add new loot to the instances now that they set the caps.
So you'd theoretically have to run the raids again? Crazy.
How important is gear in WoW? How would a L60 with decent gear stack up against a L60 with top of the line stuff after 500 raids?
Sorry for all the questions, just like to see what I would get into.

Yeah, sadly...
I've been on a ton of raids myself and only have 3 beast stalker pieces.
Just sux having to run entire instance for the chance the end boss will drop something you can use.
Winke has a funny story about killing end boss, having the valor bp drop but everyone wiped before it was looted and it decayed.
Enough to make a grown man cry.............
My opinion on equipment is, the better stuff you have, the greater your margin of error in PvP.
If your really good at pvp, you could probably run naked against half the nimrods playing alliance atm

getting gear hasn't been too bad for me.
I've completely geared out a 60 priest and a 60 druid now.
For cloth wearers, it's so easy to gear up. Dreadmist, Devout, and Magisters, they're all reasonably good, with Dreadmist being the better set.
I've got Dreadmist Robes, Dreadmist Spaulders, Dreadmist Gloves. Devout Helm, Devout Pants, Devout Boots. Use Dustfeather / Grimnoose Belt, and just using Funeral Cuffs for Bracer. It took me about 2 weeks to assemble all that, with doing 2 raids per night on weekdays only. The Cloak/Rings/Trinkets are all quest items, you shoudl have absolutely zero problem getting them (Blood of the Martyr, Royal Seal of Alexis).
For my Druid, I've been a little more unlucky lately. I have Wildheart Vest, Bracers, Gloves, Spaulders, Boots, Belt. On the 15+ UD Strath raids, no pants drop, and on 20+ Scholo, no helm drop. Using Eye of Rend / Ghostshroud / Soothsayers for now, on the helm, unfortunately. Using Tressermane for the pants, which are ok. For the rings, it's a no brainer, you get to choose between blood of the martyr, royal seal of alexis, ring of protection, thrall's resolve for rings. All quest items. For trinkets things like Barov, Mark of Tyranny, Shard of Afrasa are all also quest items, easy to get.
The bottom line is if you have a good group of 5-10 people, you can do instances fast. 5 man, we were doing Emperor runs in <50min. 10 man we can so UD strath in 1-1.5 hours if no respawns, and scholo in <2 hours. If you avg 4 hours a night, it's really not an issue.
Of course, there's a complete 2nd tier of gear which is probably what your conquest friends are talking about. You run a 6 hour raid 40 man raid, and get 4-5 items. Each time. You can only do it 3 times a week or so. That becomes a drag.
Right now, I'm mostly working on my PVP suit now. Trying to get all my resists around 40-50 before buffs.
