whats a good class to play.
in alpha i enjoyed mages very much.
i also enjoy paladins very much.
what is a good class to solo (leveling) with?
i like speed, i like being able to healmyself(lower downtime), and i like to deal damage (doens't have to be large damage number, but small ammounts which add up to allot).
lemme know! i may be coming to wow.
bloody hell i hate you all..

well, so far i really enjoy warrior, rogue, and warlock.
warriors : great damage and survivability via food/first aide
rogues: good, constant damage, fair survivability
warlocks: dot the fuck out of things and then drain their souls.
depends on what you really want, sounds like you might like mage/rogue.

just a warning... the impression i got from the rest of the guild is that the end game pvp is really lacking in excitement right now. It pretty much consists of zerg vs zerg fights since most pvp guilds run around in raid groups... not to mention the dynamics of the battles is very limited atm. but im not 60 this is just the impression that ive gotten from reading guild chat

Yeah PvP is like that on every server sadly.
You will be hard pressed to find some nice 8 v 8 or 10 v 10 type stuff.
However, I think when the battlezone deal goes in this game will explode with good stuff.
Overall, this game is very awesome. Not nearly as many bugs as some others I have played. Leveling ain't all that bad. I am already 20 on my mage with like 16 hours played and I been slacking around.
The worst thing I see right now with the honor system going in is the zergs are worse then before and the lag is downright unbearable.

i dunno phishbone i disagree with you about WoW being awesome. It bores the hell out of me personally. The only reason I still play is to bs with the guild. It bores me mostly because its too easy and theres really nothing to lose from dying. So when I get in a good fight (which is rare) its hard for me to get excited since I lose nothing if i die.
i was thinking either priest or shammy..
i'm not gonna make the same mistake i did in DAOC by having my first char be a warrior (i did that in the alpha and paladins pwned)

i've been doing 5man pvp and it is way better than daoc for several reasons.
Reason Why I Love It:
1) the servers are bigger, there is action _everywhere_ at any time of the day.
2) people are generally noobs and are unorganized. 5 v 15 which I thought was impossible initially is now very possible to me now, depending on the terrain. even if we end up dying, we still take out like 10 of them, which is a major feat, considering 5 v 15 odds, you probably shouldn't even kill 1.
3) the terrain is so varied which makes it a ton of fun.
4) I like the HK Private check mark after a kill. hehehe
Tips on making your PVP Experience More Fun:
1) Stick to small pvp groups. I'd highly recommend 5 mans, but 10 mans are also very functional. Solo/duo if you'd like, but be prepared to be zerged when adds start popping out. With a group, you can weather a few rogue assjammers. If the guild is doing a zerg, try to keep it manageable with guild only and the like. When you pick an objective to take over, (say the Deeprun Tram), try to stay on teh objective and not wander off.
2) Make sure there are no noobs in your groups!! If you're a noob, no biggie, just get better so you won't be =)
3) Avoid zergy areas. This includes (at least on my server): Western Plaguelands. Eastern Plaguelands. Hillsbrad Foothills. Gadgetzan.
4) Do stir up trouble in alliance territories. Our best 5 v 10-20's are near Ironforge, where lots of level 60 alliance are dueling. There is instantly a group of 20 level 60 alliance to challenge =)
5) Also try high level, low traffic areas. Dire Maul is decent, Blackrock Mountain is decent, etc.
Things that suck about it so far:
1) It's expensive (time and sometimes money). If you pvp a lot, you will need to spend a few gold repairing at the end of each day. You will probably need to go through a few major mana / health potions per day. These take like 5-10 min to farm mats for each, or 1-2g on AH or something like that, so it definitely adds up. If you have revered faction with Argent Dawn, you can actually buy limited #s of major potions for like 35s, so definitely do that when they're available.
2) Not every zone is good for PVP. Areas like Southshore/Tarren Mill are completely unplayable because of the # of people there. Your rewards will be shitty too. There's this rogue on my server with 2900 honorable kills. He also has 3200 contribution points. Given that each person is worth about 160 contribution points, each kill he was getting was approximately shared with 145 other people..LOL.
Definitely not efficient.
3) Needing an epic mount. OMG... I have an epic mount on my Priest, but not my Druid.. it really sucks being run down b/c of this. At the very least though, my druid can dismount and stealth which can usually avoid most chasers. Problem is, they totally made Perception overpowered =(

My PVP/PVE opinions of the 3 healing classes so far... I play a 60 priest and 60 druid, so I have 2 of them down, and my good friend puppets/contre is our shaman, so I can tell you what I've seen from him so far.
1) Priest. Obviously the best healer, even when spec'd shadow or spec'd disc or spec'd holy. Others will argue, but few have the same experience I do. Also amongst the 3, you will have the highest DPS, mostly because of stacking DoTs (Btw, make an undead priest if you do make one). You will always be invited to groups. I am messaged about 5 times per hour, at all hours of the day, doesn't matter if they /who me and see me in an instance already, they'll ask when I'm done if I can join them. That's how valuable you are. Problems.... a) you are pretty useless without mana. b) your self defense is not very high. you have a 26 sec cooldown on AE fear, but it only fears a max 5 targets, which is sufficient in small group pvp, but not sufficient vs zergs. c) you will often be the #1 target of your opponents, making you more reliant than other classes on keeping you alive and useful for the battle.
recommended spec: shadow until around lvl 50. at that point either go holy/disc for instance grinding until you're geared up, then respec shadow/disc after you're geared, or just respec to tri-spec and use tri-spec for a long time. I went shadow, then holy/disc, then shadow again, then tri-spec. thinking about shadow again, but tri-spec is pretty good so far. (damage speed: I can do about 150 dps as a holy/disc priest, about 170-200 dps as a trispec and about 250-330 dps as a shadow)
2) Druid. You're gonna be the second best healer. Your dps will be the lowest amongst these 3, and pretty much the lowest in the game. It used to be the worst class in the game, but since release, they've given druids a fair amount of love. After you hit 30 and get travel form, you should absolutely never die when outdoors. When you say, fast,do you mean level fast? Or run fast.. b/c no one gets away faster than a druid. You can instantly goto cheetah mode to get away, you can go into lion mode and sprint away, you can stealth in lion mode.
they've beefed druid damage up in lion/cat mode to do decent damage when wearing feral items. I can get about 130-140 dps in regular items, and around 160-190 in feral items. In caster mode, if you chain nuke you can achieve maybe 160 dps, but your 2 nukes are either fast cast/horrible mana efficiency, or really slow cast/ok mana efficiency.
The key ability is innervate, allowing you to regen 4000 mana in 20 sec.. it's castable on others too. (6 min recast). Bear form is also good for PvE purposes. You get an additional 1200 hp or something like that, and your bear armor shoots out the roof. before last patch, in some bear gear i had collected, my armor was around 11000, higher than any warrior i knew. 5900 hp buffed as well.. the better warriors i know have around that though. In PVP, you will never die and you can heal/support functions pretty well. you just won't get the glory to kill anyone.
3) shaman (i'm outta time i'll continue with shaman in a bit, or let someone else do that)
