I gotta agree, I'ld rather have the extra points any day than either of the other two assassin abilities. Of course everyone said that when they put it in.
The thing about this patch, was they complained left axe was too much given the end regen situation. So they not only lessen the effectiveness of the mid end regen spells, they do a huge hit to the damage of all left axe styles, from 30-60% less damage than prepatch, depending on the style. Why not make one change and see how it goes, rather than hitting it from both sides?
Shrug, left axe was the best set of styles in the game, outside of CS. But there will always be a best. It was probaly head and shoulders above the rest, and needed a bit of down tune...
And sirion, SB's had many ways to spec, so some were hit harder than others. The problem is, 1 line respec doesn't allow many of those specs to adjust well. Also, some picked the class to play it the way they did, not to go some other way just to be effective. On andred I had a 12 in CS, went pure SZ. I really enjoyed that spec, and that was the only reason I started a SB. If I was told I had to take CS to be effective now, I would stop playing the character. I didn't wanna rely on the PA chains so much.
That was the neat thing about SB's, it was one of the very very few classes that not only had more than 1 way to spec, but 3 or 4, all played a good bit differently. Players like choices, as long as they don't lead to gimps. EQ/DAoC cookie cutter templates really suck to a lot of us, especialy those who come fom mud backgrounds.
Ahh well, I'm rambling.

The only good thing about this new patch (in my opinion) is that i now have an incentive to finish leveling my hunter.

assassins
The assassin debates have been going on forever and I have been in them.
For anyone who really knows the stealth wars, currently a rr5+ NS is king dog if specced in blades. They will decimate an SB and most likely take down an Inf with little trouble. Mythic as always went too far with NS. The slash resist armor was a crippling blow to any SB they face. NS original problems in damage were due to weapon speed. NS only had options of lighting fast weaps that didn't hit hard. Currently most use weapons that are 3.6 pierce (I am not sure of their blade spds) Their weapon speeds are slower than that of the albion counter part. You add in the only assassin with avoidance of pain and you have a badass every 15 minutes. Infs have 2.5x spec points and only one real viable way to spec unless you want to get owned by NS like an SB. A slash inf does fine vs SBs however just like the SB gets beat down like a school girl by NS. Because of this, most infs spec Thrust and thrust for one reason...Dragonfang. SBs don't have this option, they are just screwed here. The problem is that Dragonfang takes lvl 50 base training and that is more than the extra .3 spec points gives. The issue is Dragonfang offers the unparalleled 9 second stun off a single evade! Much like its cousin Diamondback which offers 5 seconds off a single evade. SBs only have i believe it is called Comeback or something that is in the 2nd line of a chain in the LA style set. Its time is also no where near that of Dragonfang.
So what can you do here?
1.I would suggest making all assassins 2.2x spec.
2. Cap all assassins at 1800 hp regardless of race/realm
3. remove slash resist armor from NS
4. remove shouts from NS
5. remove Avoidance of Pain from NS
6. remove dragonfang and diamondback
7. add 2nd line chain stun to the CS style set at lvl 25
8. give SBs a SB only LA line that is DIFFERENT than that of Zerks and is more positional like that of H2H
9. Mimic 8 for INFS and NS but different types of styles doing different things as per the realm
10. Give all realms access to Vanish
11. Give SBs a new realm ability like HIDE that counteracts True Sight for 30 seconds every 30 min.
12. Give INFs a RA similar to runies as a PBAE satchel explosive
13. Remove 2h weapons from SBs
14. Give SBs new thrust type weapons (example Hunter)
Just ideas, they shouldn't be cookie cutter and they don't have to be but there isn't balance atm.
