Leadership?

Postby Ellessar » Mon Apr 04, 2005 10:28 am

Ok first of all I'm not trying to piss anyone off with this post. Now that that is outta the way I wanna ask when are we going to start doing some shit as a guild. Last count we had 37 level 60's that's a fuckin MC raid right there. We got the ppl and the levels we just lack the leadership. Super is the man and it seems like he's the only person who can get people whipped into shape. I know he's busy irl and shit so I wont hold his not being on too much against him. I'm just a little upset, I took a week off and get back hoping things were different but they dont seem to have changed at all. We tried to do strat in a 10 man. It was all BWC and I am sorry to say it was the worst raid in any game I have ever been a part of. Not slamming anyone who was there or anything I just think it shows how much work this guild needs to get us whipped into shape. I wanna know when our leaders are gonna step up and start getting stuff done. Not all but a select few officers seem to enjoy grouping with reso more than BWC. That just irritates the shit outta me. I think that as officers and leaders you do have a responsibility to the guild. I'm not trying to dictate how you spend your time playing this game I'm just letting you know what I think officers and leaders should be doing. I'm also not saying that all you officers suck ass either. Well Gan sucks ass but in a good way. I know everyone says things will change when BG's go live but I wouldnt mind trying some of the end game content that is available now. Not to mention that actually doing things as a guild will aid us in getting a feel for each other and our playstyles etc. which can only help us when we start to pvp. Just my opinions on some things that I thought I would share. Dont turn this into a flame fest please these are honest concerns on my part and I think a few others feel the same. this is Pig btw for any noobs who werent with us on a real pvp server.
BTW if you are not in BWC on bleeding hollow your input means shit to me with the exception of Killets as he is the man.

I am more of a sheep then a leader. I would take up fold but I am extremly confident I would piss off 33 out of the 37 Level 60s because when it comes to things I have a short fuse, and compassion is not one of my strong points.

On that note once I learn Vent I may start running raids, but I will only invite players on the Vent channel because I dont feel like wasting my life typing. I have learned that voice communication > all.

Nothing says MOVE BITCH GET OUT THE WAY, quite like saying it really loud in someones speaker when they fuck up as opposed to typing it.

Here is a few helpful things EVERYONE can do -

1) New Members - I'm not sure how this open recruiting got in; but please play with people awhile before inviting. Half the guildies I group with make polymorph completely useless. Recruit classes we need (ie Priests, Druids). We are all set on Warriors and Shaman for now unless someone that plays a lot and well comes along. Stick to mid to upper 50's. We are 6 months into the game lets move the hard cap up to 50 at least. Recruiting a 20 at this point is waiting 3 months for the asshole to lvl. Get people that play more then 20 hours a week. BWC is about a mix between friendship and quality gaming. Right now I hear a lot of people believe we are losing one aspect and as much as I love everyone our current membership is not as strong as it's been in years. MMO'ing is a bit of a commitment. When I lack the time I don't play the game and stick to xbox. Hell it happens.

2) Raiding - I'm not sure wtf the issue is with the 60's in this guild and our allies but we have some 40's that will be running everyone through those after we cap out. Everyone could run instances they know. Even if it's Wailing Caverns, chose a date that works for you, log it on the calender and give people up to 30 min to show up. If no one shows that is ok, don't take it personal. Fardomar and I will be running the newbs through at least once a week a piece. If we have 20 people doing this; it will improve our current raid leadership, lvl medium and gear/cash. I know Rhuac does at least a half dozen a week. /props

3) Ventrillo - OK, I am one to talk here because I have not been using this but we really should. It will improve your in game communication and quality of game play. I'll be on tonight so I don't sound like a complete douchebag.

4) Trade Skills (Prof) - Find out what the guild lacks and lvl these up. Every level 40 toon should have these in the 200's at least. Help your guildies with shitty newb gear as it cost you very little and helps them alot.

I would also like to see -

*PvP raiding
*Guild goals and events (all levels)
*Growing min. lvl cap (ie SH says ok must be 20 by the 15th / 30 by nxt month etc - no one really needs a guild at lvl 15)

There are several other things SH and the officers need to discuss but these are some quick ideas every member can help with. Remember with Reso (Sirion, Ceregon, Zeratul etc) and Killets jerking off in other guilds and some people not moving to WoW our leadership was gutted a bit and fucks like Joshll and I getting onto BH late does not help.

Most of all this is a game and an easy one at that. Have fun but we need to pick it up. We need to figure out were SH wants to go with this madness That was the best post I have seen in awhile Ellessar way to sack up ~

I agree with Pig :)

Btw, anyone wanna 5 man LBRS a bunch to get another key? Only having 3 keys in the guild limits the ability we have of getting everyone their Onxyia keys.

I'm up for running some lbrs runs after ubrs if we can get enough ppl to stick around mex, I'm kinda wondering if you can jump from the generals bridge in ubrs over to the overlords bridge in lbrs if you use a noggenfogger potion. Get a lock to jump over and summon the rest of the raid could shorten things up a lot for lbrs. I nominate zerrast to be the test dummy.

Bulor, then why do we have leaders/officers?

And it's the officers that gain the support of the guild. If they say jump, people jump. If us little peons say jump, they say fuck off.

heh that's what i always said in ED and belive it or not more leaders came about in the guild ie beaf ^_^ sometimes the big leaders in the guild need to step back and let some others that want to show everyone they can be a leader too.

even if you excell in leading one thing over another that's fine. So if you are a great pve leader go for it organize raids and stuff help the others that need a push on leveling. If you have great tactics on pvp put a group together and pvp. not one person has to be good at everything to be a leader. I know kim and dwayne are great at both :p but if you think you can rise above and lead smaller things that you think the guild needs go for it.

I never want to hear anyone bitching about the guild needs to do this they need to do that and hope someone else rises up and does it. If we need to do something set some building blocks and do it period. No one else is going to do it for you. If you can't muster up the people ask one of the established leaders to help out and back you up.

it just iritates the shit out of me when someone doesn't step forth to resolve the situation that they just bitched about. You don't like it fix it or move on kthnx.

no one's calling you a peon

how the hell do you think officers are made by going ooooo i want law he's my best friend or let's make super a gm because he's cool. No everyone that's an officer has prooved their leadership as a guildie at some point. you are just to idiotic to realize that.

Oh I'm idiotic to realize that? Give me a break. I've been in BWC since the first day of retail of WoW. I have no idea what they did in DAOC and to be perfectly honest, I could care less. This is not DAOC and it never will be so their achievements as a leader should NOT roll over.

If they're a leader, let them step up. That's why the title is there. You think that us non officers haven't tried to step up? We sure as hell have. Unfortunately, we don't have the loyalty like the officers do. We have the same people showing up but that's never really enough and without officer support, things like raids never really get off their feet.

The person who started this thread, Pigvig, has lead more PvE raids for this guild than any single person. He's the one bitching and you're sitting here trashing on him for not trying. That's what I call ignorance.

If officers don't want to step up and do something about the guild, then promote others, demote them and give them a shot.

Heh, well I've been on both sides of the fence on this one... However it's pretty simple...

If you don't do things as a guild, people will leave.

So, uh, start doing things... and stuff. ktnxbye
