E46 M3

Postby Praecor » Fri Sep 26, 2003 1:30 pm

Welcome to the Bimmerphile World man...

You should've brought it up before but I've been in the tuning hobby for Bimmers since my E34 5-Series (Racing Dynamics)

Since then I've tuned another E34, an E38 740iL, and of course my baby... Full AC-Schnitzer E36 M3 (S50 3.0ltr -OBD-I)

Dinan stuff is great for US-Spec cars, but since my mecca to Aachen Germany, I'm a devout fan of the Schnitzer technology/art.

I'm actually considering dealing with Steve Dinan on a future homologation special...he is planning on producing a V8-E46 S2 M3 so that he can race in ALMS... at the heart of it will be the 5.0ltr M5 V8-475bph.

Keep your eyes peeled for your next upgrade...kompresssor baby (supercharger for those who don't read German)!

Bumper Reflector

Postby Praecor » Fri Sep 26, 2003 1:43 pm

Btw...those yellow bumper reflectors that they had to put on US-Spec cars are just utterly hideous... get those taken care of on the front spoiler above the fog lamps.

They should have them pre-painted in Steel Grey to match your E46 M3.

Luckily this is the US, else you'd get laughed off the Autobahn with those ugly yellow warts.

You guys may not be overly interested, but the NIR forum just had a post like this, too. You might find it slightly entertaining.

Prae I've got a 97 us spec m3 with dinan mods. Voted by road and track magazine that year as the best handling car at any price. :)

But I sure wish we could get the Euro spec engine. (drool) What year is yours?

I have one of the few OBD-I 3.0 liter '95 model year that had the older style Dinan Supercharger kit but I've since then gone back to naturally aspirated without upgrading to the Vortech Blower. I have full AC-Schnitzer suspension with thicker adjustable sway bars and the AC-Schnitzer exhaust and resonator. On the exterior it is a full AC S3-Sport (Carbon Fiber Spoiler front and rear apron). I've recently upgraded the lighting system to the Angel Eye ellipsoid headlamp with a full stage II Xenon HID.

If and when I get the E46 M3...I may turn my E36 into a full blown track car likely trying the Stage 3 Active Autowerke Turbo. Pablo (EC editor) has had a lot of success with his and is chronicled in the column "Project M3" in his magazine, European Car. Infact, Pablo participated in a time competition against all the other cars from other editors of several auto magazines including multiple Mustang Cobras and Vettes I think, anyway he took first place in his E36 M3 Turbo. 'Nuff said about American musclecars and their viability on a real race track as opposed to an oval lmao!

Is your '97 M3 the (S52) 3.2 liter? It is likely with OBD-II, but you can still tune it to a good degree. Lucky for us Dwayne's car suffers from excessive understeer without Dinan's suspension systems, and made doubly worse because he carries a severe weight penalty from his silly convertible.

He would be a n00b getting schooled by the older M3's ROFL.
