The closed beta test is coming to an end. This Friday, October 29, at 3:00 PM PDT, the closed beta servers will go offline as we prepare to run another stress test. All active closed-beta accounts will remain active, and closed-beta testers will be receiving an email with instructions on what to do to continue playing in the stress test.

We will post more information about the stress test in the days ahead, so please stay tuned to WorldofWarcraft.com.

We also want to take this opportunity to thank the closed beta testers for their months of dedicated testing and hard work. Thanks to all of your suggestions and bug reports, World of Warcraft is closer than ever to being ready for launch!

In unrelated news, we will be bringing the beta servers down today at 6:30 PM PDT for maintenance. We estimate that the maintenance will last for one hour, and when the maintenance is complete, we’ll bring the servers back online. Please keep in mind that this is an estimate; should anything unexpected arise, we’ll post further notice in the Server Status forum. Thanks for your patience.

I was just about to post this news...

Btw.. check your Email.. Closed Beta Testers received some info...

I'm guessing this new "Stress Test" is going to be open to other players outside the closed testers... Lets hope they re-invite the old Stress Testers back for round 2!!

One thing that is confirmed is Closed Testers will continue without a player wipe.

Here's to hoping this kicks off on Monday... :onfire:

This game is not ready for release.

I doubt I will play it if released within the next few weeks.

I don't thinks it's "ready" for release, but it's certainly the most complete game that I have played as far as in beta, or in retail at launch goes. I think it will do just fine as long as they stay on top of things and make sure that their internal testers are doing the best job they can to keep as much of the overpowered and exploitable bullshit they can out of the public.

I gotta agree with Sirion here. No game has been released "ready" yet. This is by far more "ready" than EQ, EQ2, AC, AC2, UO, DAOC, SWG, SB, Horizons, AO were. Has the stability of COH, but with more depth already.

The only true sticking point right now are the talents for the couple of remaining classes, which I imagine will be in for everyone when they do the open beta.

Hero classes don't bother me one bit. Racial traits are supposed to be minor and in next patch too. PvP reward system, that is an ongoing process anyways. They need to get the full system in (again, saying they have it now internally they say).

Another thing, there has also never been a beta that the closed testers truely thought WAS ready for release. Of course, they have a different perspective (they already are playing, and can "afford" to wait until it is perfect for release).
Venderic, Candide or Mercutio in games.

The biggest problem is the shitty netcode that selectively and randomly keeps objects (players, monsters, world items) from drawing on your screen.

It's Blizzard's effort to keep your client from being overloaded by having to calculate locations of items and draw them on your screen, but it's horribly implemented.

It really hurts the PvP experience when you see two people, think to yourself "I can take these guys no prob!", charge in and then find that there are 15 more people waiting right behind them that your client decided you didn't need to know about.

Overall it's ready for release because I'm ready to pay to play it imho. :)

WoW beta is 10x the fun DAOC is and even though it's not 100% complete most people from DAOC I think will enjoy it in it's current form.

More itemization needs to happen and trade skills need a boost/variety. Horde after level 30 is not 100% complete either compared to what I hear about Alliance. I found some level ranges very difficult due to not enough quests (i.e. 29-31 was a bitch) or the quests being too difficult for level even in groups. I breezed from 31-33 as quests and new areas open up that provide a lot of solo opportunities.

Trade skill wise I'm slightly disappointed that my above level skill in Tailoring is useless to me at the moment since my drops are far better. At lvl 33 I'm ready for Mageweave (180 skill) but that doesn't start dropping till level 35+ mobs. Only use so far was creating a Cowl which seemed to be a rare drop and creating items for lower level characters and 10 slot packs for everybody. Also at low level tailoring not any cash to make really as AH is flooded with newbie tailor gear.
