First I'm ok with 10% dur hit on equipped items. I'm NOT that happy with the 100% dur hit on all pack/equipped items on using spirit healer for PVP deaths. You rarely if ever need spirit healer in PVE but in PVP your corpse will be camped in which case some coin should drop - maybe a bit more if you use spirit healer. I'd rather see a reward go to the winners in PVP than a penalty applied to losers.

They are obviously trying to increase the price of death since perhaps people die too often/return and complete instances. I know on Shadowfang we did it with like 10 deaths each. Just wanted the final loot and we should never have made it to the end.

Another way of abusing death : using ghosting to complete quests

Yes I did this on one quest. I should have taken a group but died near a spot in this hosue where I had to pickup a book, then ghosted back, waited for guard mob to move out of room, accepted rezz and took my book. Mana shield and ran out of there.

Wahhh they added a death penalty wahhh. I need reagents to teleport wahhh. wahhhh

I can't believe all the whining I'm seeing about this change. Personally a death penalty was needed, but I will say that 100 dur loss when using a spirit healers is to harsh. If they make it so that a PvP death won't incur this penalty then thats a step in the right direction. They should also lower the cost of repair across the board. I hear its something like 60g or something to repair all your stuff at lvl 60. Oh, and the loss of dur of gear in your pack is a bug.

As far as reagents go, I don't really see an issue with this on spells other than buffs. Power word:Fortitude and Arcane Intellect shouldn't have reagents since they are used way to often. I do see the reason to add a money sink into the game since there really aren't any. Skills are a one time cost. The good armor is dropped or made so that isn't really a sink either. The only real money sink is the durability system and I've already said what I think needs to be done there.

I just don't understand why people are so up in arms about this. The reactions are almost exactly like when they made other sweeping changes like Rest State, the introduction of item durability, even the announcment of the racial traits(although the Taunt change is bad). There are still sweeping changes to come in the next 2 weeks and I'm sure Blizzard will take every moment of that to get it right. What needs tweaking will be tweaked and I'm confident that they will ship a solid product. Once people start paying to play the changes won't be so drastic.

Having a death penalty is needed, I'll agree there, but in a game where you have to buy EVERYTHING until endgame (which I have gotten to btw, so I do know what I'm talking about here) having a monetary loss for death is stupid. On my Rogue I made all of my armor via skinning/leatherworking, but through the costs of poisons keeping up with weaponry, and skills, I had maybe... 50g at level 40. I wouldn't even have been able to afford my mount until probably level 46 had I not been lucky enough to stumble onto a 14 slot pack and sell it for 60g. I really don't mind the reagent cost on some skills that are not needed (like waterwalking/breathing) but I never mentioned those skills, I said that putting a reagent cost on buffs was stupid, and it is. I told Ceregon to not even bother getting Stamina 4 5 or 6, because the bottom line is, using those skills while you are leveling (and not while you are 60 and just farming extra cash) is just making it harder for you to afford the good armor and the good equipment, as well as skills and a mount. Also, for the record, you absolutely do buy alot of equipment all the way up to endgame. The only thing that some players, and I do mean some, will not have to buy, are things that drop in high end instances likd BRD/S Strat, Scholomance, and the Raid instances (which is mostly plate and cloth from what I've seen going there) , and these items will have to be farmed because the typical boss mob only drops one item at a time. That doesn't help you when you want to pvp and your sword of uberness hasn't dropped yet, so you are using linkin's sword of mastery from a quest you did 9 levels ago. Oh yea, forgot to mention, it's going to be hard as shit to farm those items with the current state of taunt.

Just the 100% dur hit on spirit healer irks me.

Reagents, well AC had them, probably AC's system is much more involved that WoW's will be. I just hope reagents are purchaseable from vendors at reasonable prices as they were in AC ... reagent cost scaled as you levelled (at least tapers did).

Taking two gathering professions is almost required to have a hope of getting a mount in early 40's.
