As long as its a decent population server,

I don't care where we play.

I just don't want another Andred, where 2 months after we all lvl up its us and maybe 2 other guilds running around. Although the drama was fun :P

West coast server makes no sense for a large guild. East is clearly the choice here. It is where Euro's will want to play, it lets people who have to work play when others are on, and the west coast players still get to play with plenty of the late night east coasters.

If you play west coast, east coasters are screwed, as they are logging out before the peak.

Picking west coast is just plain stupid. I don't even see the point with central. Odds are central/mountain will be least populated. May be good at launch but will suck later on.

Ohh, your ping goes up by 100ms, big fucking deal. Quit bitchin :)

Calm down people.

Ok seems EC is where it's at, and we'll just see once the server names are released, and make a final decision.

Kind of sad seeing people pull out or go elsewhere.

But whatever.

East PvP please!

My Darktide friends will be on an east coast PvP server and I want to be able to play with both groups. =8v) Also as soon as server names are announced lets decide on a server ASAP so I can coordinate between the two groups.
Cthulhu - 50 ML6 - Shadowblade - Merlin (Un-Retired)
Cliibhlibh - 50 ML6 - Shaman - Merlin(Ya I actually RvR with him)
Nosthu - 50 ML3 - Zerk - Merlin
Mosthula - 50 - Minstrel - Albion Lamorak (Retired)
Mosthula - 50 - Lurikeen Champ - Mordred (Retired)

remember, you gotta choose the server name that SOUNDS cool. those cool name servers are the ones that will end up having high pop which = more to kill or trade with.

starting out on a shit name server (palomides) which looked good at release still made us reroll after a few months because nobody wants to join a "Palomides". Merlin, Lancelot, and Guinevere sound nice, that's why they are the best servers til this day.

so whoever does the deciding, and posts up in this forum the name.. i'm hoping its a nice name that'll last throughout

DONT GO SHAMAN NAT

Go MAGE

GO WARRIOR

dont go Shaman >_<

True on the names, we will see when that time comes. If there is a server named Arthas or Northrend, im sure all the players will flock there.

My guild is EC PvP, horde. I'll be playing a Warrior, although I can't decide between Undead or Tauren, name will be Filth (as long as it's not taken).

i think you guys need to cater to the more hardcore players who play the game to the end. they're the ones that are gonna keep the show going when other people drop out for whatever reasons.

ok.. just kidding about that.

but still, I dunno.. it just seems kinda stupid if I'm logging in after work, and its 11pm on the server i'd be playing at. I can play with people for what, 1 hour before people start logging for bed?

GREAT...at least east coasters, if they played on a westcoast server, would have their normal play hours of say, 8pm-12am map to the server as 5pm-9pm... what exactly are they missing?

on an east coast server, my hours would map to 11pm-3am... hey, everyone knows on most daoc servers, population turns to shit by midnight pacific.. the only people left are hard core west-coasters and italians. if we play on an east coast server... umm.. won't even have those west coasters. even central will be pushing it.

From a pure logistics point of view,

East Coaster on West Coast server: Their 8-midnight maps to 5-9pm... population from 5-9pm? quite good.

West Coaster on East Coast server: Their 8-midnight maps to 11-3am... population from 11-3am? really shitty.

If that still isn't convincing enough, we'll probably have to split the guild in half.

*edit*. and whats the deal? sirion talks like he's already got a different guild going.. so does his opinion shouldn't matter as much as the people who do plan on staying with us.

and seriously, it seems like most of the people who play the most hardcore like nats, liader, eirene, mourningblade are all west coasters. i think i've play a lot too (well, i got an RR8 and 2 RR6s, and more daoc wealth than anyone i know).

8pm to 12am

try something like 6 to 9 or 10pm

On WC thats still hella early and as such nothing really will jump off at that time. I am only speaking from my vantage point thou. Im not gonna do wow like Andred or DAOC in general staying up all late playing all morning etc.

I do indeed have another guild going for WoW; however, the plan, as far as I knew, was to play the same server and be allied on the horde for PvP, and to help each other out and such (especially since half of BWC hasn't played the first hour of the game yet, but 90% of my friends/guildmates have played a character on both alliance and horde to at least 35). If BWC decides to make toons on a WC server I'll make a toon there to mess around and keep in touch, but it won't be my main.

Also note, that most of the people you mentioned in your post hop servers constantly, not that that's a bad thing, but the majority of the current BWC population doesn't move around like that, they pick a server, and stick to a server. Maybe there should be a poll on this in the actual guild forums, and perhaps the gmotd for BWC on merlin should be changed to reflect that a vote from everyone is required in order to find the best place for the guild as a whole.

a vote was put out. It was for East Coast, because it caters to EVERYONE, while West only caters to 1 population, East caters to all including West.

Doesn't matter, its all about server name so we shall see.

West coast is fine as long as my latency isn't fucked.

I think the logical thing to do is start a server poll here on first day of retail posting choosen server names per zone and then we check our latencies to each?

DoG to decide on server names for each zone asap on retail day.

Well 2 retorts to what was brought up.

1) The poll was far from conclusive, and it didn't even take into acct people who never post here. Guys like Tav and Lubu, his brothers, haven't even logged into the BWC msg board since the post was made. Nor people who just started checking the msg board like Pink who didn't see a 1 week old poll since it had fallen so far down. And I'm willing to bet that not everyone from BWC who does read here regularly and plans to play WoW even saw the post to begin with. There were only 22 votes (and those arent even BWC exclusive votes... lotta of the people who voted don't have any intention on being guilded as BWC...). You honestly believe there are less than 22 old and new BWC who want to play WoW?

2) umm... i still play starcraft and warcraft 3 up until 2-3am some days... at least on USWest, I can still find some games where they actually speak english. it takes me for fucking ever to get a game going on east coast servers at the time. When I'm like what the fuck, did battle.net die? I remember that I forgot to change the server back to USWest after playing with an east coast friend the day before. It just flat out bites asshole. If it comes down to staying with the guild and not being able to find a decent population to play with, and playing a game where people can actually play in my time zone, then yes, i will try as hard as possible to get as many people to come with me to west coast servers (i mean, old friends like pinkerton, contre, dekz, psychotix, eirene are all probably going west coast anyways). If its the same for all you east coast grannies who sleep at 8pm eastern (and play between like noon and 5pm pacific), and you need to play east coast to have fun, then I guess there's no real compromise. maybe i'll visit you east coast hardcores with lvl 1 toons sometimes, but nothing else i can do. not gonna choose to play 11pm-4am. even central is a real stretch for me, and i doubt i'd keep it up for very long. anyways, that's just my viewpoint.

and hall... wtf, i see you on aim all the time at 9pm and later pacific time. hell, you're online right now and its 9pm here.
