Super, we need to do a mage test

Postby slythetove » Thu Jan 06, 2005 1:58 pm

There is a rumor that improved counterspell causes the 4 seconds of silence, but does not cause 10 seconds to the school that was being cast when it was counterspelled.

I don't have imp counter yet, and don't want to take it yet just to test this. I was planning on having it in my final spec of course, but I'd like to provide some data / testing to the mage community.

We will /duel, I will cast my longest fireball, you will counterspell and I will see what happens.

Please let me know if you are willing to help me test this when you return this weekend.

um just got back from 18 hours of hell in Arkansas.

Might be on a little tomorrow after work, going out tomororw night with 2 chicks.

Then might be on a little on Saturday, and definately on, on Sunday.

According to Ceregon it does last beyond the 4 seconds of silence. In a discussion we were having earlier today with some friends, he was confused about mage's "Silence" spell, and why it lasted on him longer than the debuff. I had to smack him like a newb and tell him that the "silence" he was getting was simply a talent attached to a trained spell called "counter spell" that interupts and blocks the use of whatever school of magic the caster is using when the counter spell hits them.

Now then, if counter-spell is used simply as a silence, when no spells are being cast, does it only last for four seconds?
