This game takes more skill than DAoC. There are no I-WIN buttons, or overpowered spells like AE mez. Gear helps, but for Scorn on Blackrock, no one is geared completely yet. Yet we still rock 5mans in decked out MC/Ony gear. The disparity in skill is monumental, because there are so many spells and more things you need to do in WoW.

Honestly, after you get a certain level in gear, skill means more than improving your gear ever will. If all you do is zerg Hillsbrad, then ok yea, you're obviously not doing anything that a monkey couldn't do: Run into zerg, click on nearest target, shoot a couple times, then run like hell, die, return, zerg back.

Some of our raid buddies are completely decked out. One the priests in our "alliance" is already in full Prophecy/Transcendence gear, and he's not the best priest on the server. Just because he has 250 more combined resists than other priests, and heals for 100 hp more on his flash heals, in pvp he's clearly not better than say, me =) I'm wearing ghetto gear compared to him.

Exactly.

:onfire:

i can totaly agree with this. if all you do is zerg then why bother with gear ie equipment . no skill needed to just follow the zerg like a mindless drone click target tag once soak up points gee you really accomplished so much i wanna hang with you.

personaly you can deck your self out with epic 2nd tier items from head to toe and you can be the dumbest player on the server.

bottom line gear dont mean dick if ya cant correctly use your player class.

all I know is I feel like Im playing EQ all over again. Grind grind grind then go raid with 40+ people for a handfull of items. Fun fun fun.

If battleground doesnt change this game it will not keep me remotely interested for long.

yeah well, if BGs suck then I'm pretty sure that at least 50-75% of my guild is going to check out Guild Wars and pray it's less shitty than it was in the beta I played in.

I wanted Guild Wars to be good too, but from the times I played, it was just Diablo all over again with less spells :/

this game does require alot more skill in PvP when compared to DAoC. For example, classes which fall in to similar categories, such as wizards in daoc and mages in wow are on a totally different playing field. Mages in WoW have the combined utility of all 3 primary offensive casters in DAoC combined (eld, RM, wiz and more) which basically means you have more tools at your disposal and you need to master and perfect what skills to use at the right time. Not to mention Wow doesn't have all the PvP handicaps that daoc has (i.e. /stick , /face , ae CC , /assist train )

Though I'm still enjoying wow atm, the current honor system patch was such a major dissappointment Especially for me because ever since beta, I was SOOOO looking forward to how blizzard would implement the PvP system. But apparently it turns out that it has waaaaayyyyy too many flaws which is just mind boggling since blizzard is known for their habit to take their time with game content and coming out polished, but this just totally contradicts that. This was such a big let-down. If there's one thing that daoc did better, its the way mythic implemented their pvp system, it just leaves WoW"s honor system in the dust. So now I'm keeping my fingers *TIGHTLY* crossed that the BGs aren't going to suck, that is now my only savior. If it turns out to be another dissappointment, I really doubt i'll be staying with WoW that much longer. :dontgetit:

aye darch i have to admit the implement of the pvp honor system was a damm joke . a system that if done correctly through the battlegrounds is gonna make or break wow in my view . upon the launch of the battlegrounds if its a buggy and still runnin on the same zerg concept i can see a bundle of folks that will take the plung into guild wars or other mmorpg concept games on the market ..

Umm my elementalist gets 79 skills and that doesnt even include my secondary profession. So you are dead wrong about the less spells thing

EDIT: also if you havent played since beta a few months ago the game is very different now with explorable zones and quests.

OK, it's good to hear there is some reward at the end of the tunnel.

I've already got a 60 dwarf hunter on Azgalor thats well equiped. I haven't touched him since I made the BH toon. Maybe I should take a break from the grind and go find some fun with him.

Just the thought of the grind after 60 drove me to cancel. You don't really see it coming till you hit 60 either then it's a few instances to farm continually with a small hope of getting something decent.

I pre-ordered guild wars but at this point don't have high expectations. If it provides a short term fix and doesn't require grind I'll be happy.

You're right I did play it awhile ago, don't really remember which open test it was, but when I did play there were about 20-30 spells I would guess, and you could only have like 6-8 on your toolbar :/

i dont see why you need to farm instances at 60. i am 57 and grouped with 4 people none of which were over 55 to do brd. we were attacked by a fg of 60s (with a priest as well as paladin for heals) and we spanked them without a death. they undoubtedly had better spells, abilites, stats, and gear, but this is far far from the only time ive seen this happen. a great example is one group vs group where the other teams preist kept casting holy smite on me. i popped a shield and healed my team and just ignored him since the spell doesnt do shit but he kept on casting it till his group died

You can use my account if you want. Its prepaid for three months because I'm a retard.

But if I let you use it, you have to level my druid for me and spec him the way I want him, and you also have to give it back in the unlikely event that the BG's fix the broken PVP and I decide to come back,.

If you're amenable to that, it's all yours. :p
