I dont think its changed, but pally was/is easily the best tank in the game as far as tanking goes. They can mitigate the most damage, and keep aggro far better than anything else.
50 spiritmaster, 50 shaman, 50 shaman, 50 bard, 50 druid, 50 chanter, 50 necro, 50 minstrel, 50 healer, 50 runemaster, 60 hunter, 60 warrior, 60 druid and 60 paladin

People are asking if we need armsmen, etc. From my experience, armsman can be usefull but its gimped compared to warrior, etc.

We need a paladin for end chant, and then both merc and reavers are really good for damage. I played merc and its one of the best if not the best light tank, and reaver can be really strong if played by a good player, positional, etc. No I win buttons on reavers.

If you need help with albion, send me a message, etc, I know most classes expect for the new heretic.

If I play Albion (really having a hard time deciding but really excited about playing DAOC again), I would like to be mercenary, sorcerer and/or offensive friar. Which would help groups the most? I will also probably have a second account to use in PvE, where I can bring the character in tow.

But, Jay... If you roll a sorc you probably won't get the be the 'B-Team' regular, disgruntled, Portal-Keep camping, malcontent that I know and love :(.
